Largest New York Comic Con to Date!
New York Comic Con recently concluded on October 20, 2024, with its largest attendance to date and Bandai Namco Toys & Collectibles America (BNTCA) was there to participate with one of their biggest footprint ever! Fans attending the show were able to experience a multitude of different celebrations of popular series ranging from Dragon Ball, Godzilla, Gundam, Tamagotchi, Ultraman, & more!
Dragon Ball DAIMA made a big splash this year, having its first episode premier on streaming services October 11, 2024 and with its amazing display on the showroom floor. There was an abundance of experiences from amazing photo opportunities with the Flying Nimbus to the iconic powering up display, to even model kit workshops and card game & video game demos! Lucky fans who were able to join the Dragon Ball DAIMA panel were able to receive plenty of goodies including an awesome t-shirt and a promotion card for the DRAGON BALL SUPER CARD GAME FUSION WORLD!
TAMASHII NATIONS brought their A-game with plenty of exclusives like the S.H.Figuarts SUPER SAIYAN GOD SUPER SAIYAN VEGITO -Exclusive Edition-, to their store exclusives like the S.H.Figuarts SUPER SAIYAN SON GOKU -Z-FIGHTERS-! Even Mini Goku was available for early purchase to commemorate the new Dragon Ball DAIMA series! Other exciting exclusives include both Spider-Man (Miles Morales) & Spider-Gwen – 1610 Rooftop Version!
There were plenty of first-time displays at New York Comic Con too, which included the first-ever display of the S.H.Figuarts ZARBON-TRUE POWER-, S.H.Figuarts TSUNADE -The Legendary Medical Ninja- from NARUTO, S.H.Figuarts AKI HAYAKAWA from CHAINSAW MAN, S.H.Figuarts SHOTO TODOROKI from MY HERO ACADEMIA, and the S.H.MonsterArts MECHAGODZILLA from GODZILLA VS. KONG [2021] -Final Battle Edition-!
Other iconic moments included Masakazu Morita, the seiyuu (voice actor) of Ichigo Kurosaki from BLEACH, signing an autograph for the BLEACH Thousand-Year Blood War display!
He wasn’t the only one to visit though, as Godzilla Minus One director, Takashi Yamazaki, also dropped by the Godzilla booth on Saturday, October 19! See him posing with the event-exclusive gold Ichibansho statue of Godzilla!
Fans were also greeted by the iconic King of the Monsters, who consistently stopped by the booth for meet-and-greet sessions! To celebrate 70 years of the King of Monsters, Yamazaki also held a panel that same day to discuss the creation of his film (and talk about his cat).
TAMAGOTCHI also made a humongous return with their own panel on Thursday, October 17 where fans got a closer look into the creative minds behind the Tamagotchi and how it’s grown from a simple electronic toy to a global media icon! There was an abundance of exciting news for the brand, including a 12-episode animated miniseries and even the long-requested return of the Tamagotchi Original – Lovely Angel (which is now available to pre-order on Amazon)!
ULTRAMAN also made their return to American Dream in New Jersey, Saturday October 19 with a special live-action show! Those who trekked their way to the entertainment & retail center were able to experience ULTRAMAN at their finest with a special showdown, hosted by Christopher Sean (best known for Ken Sato of the Netflix animated feature Ultraman: Rising) between the titular character and Baltan! Even Ultraman Zero and Ultraman Belial joined in for their own bout!
