Your mom always told you to wear a jacket when you go out so as not to catch a cold. Well your mom didn’t prepare you for the infection of space…did she? The Enterprise has encounter a lot of different infections, bacteria, diseases, and other horrors of space.
In the Infection Scenario if Star Trek [DBG] The Original Series you encounter many of the episodes that resulted in some weird and unexpected sicknesses. Those sicknesses are represented by 5 different Infection Cards. These Infection card will make their way into your decks as you explore the space deck. Once in your deck, the infection will cause you some harm and you will need to find a way to get rid of them so you can continue your quest to become the Legendary Captain. Here is what an Infection will look like:
(You must and can only play this card at the start of your action phase or during a battle.)
Draw 1 card.
-1 Diplomacy
Let’s look at the first part of the effect. (You must and can only play this card at the start of your action phase or during a battle.) Draw 1 card. All Infections will have this text. So if this card is in your hand at the start of your turn and you decide to perform the Action Phase, as must players do, then you will have to play this card to your bridge, draw 1 card, and get -1 Diplomacy while it is in your bridge. Also if this card is in your hand and a battle occurs that you are involved in you will also have to play it in that situation. Although the infection replaces itself, it does only if it is in your hand at the start of your turn. Any infections drawn after that will remain in your hand and cannot be played from it. Having a lot of Infections will slow down your game play so you need to make sure to find ways of getting rid of those infections. One of those ways is completing the Mission that gave it to you in the first place since it will have some REWARD to help you get rid of the Infection. Infection will be randomly shuffled and placed face down in the Infection Card Area which is also the Borg Card Area in the Borg Scenario.
