We are playing the TNG game. Great game. We've played it a few times now and I have a couple questions.

When battling or fighting a ship from the Star Deck, the rules are a bit unclear about what happens if you are using a non-basic flagship. Aside from shuffling an Ensign card into your deck, are there any other loses suffered? For example, do you lose your ship? Do you lose any cards on your deck? If you lose your ship in a battle with another player, do they move your flagship into their points section?

There is a Q card that gives the lowest scoring person a flag ship from someone's "garage". Is that only for ships that were diplomacied, or can Q resurrect destroyed ships?

Thanks!

Played this for the first time tonight. Is there a limit on buying Basic Characters (and you actually buy them?) If you buy a Ensign for 1 XP do you then get to spend another to buy another Ensign etc.?

In the new TOS game, question on the 'Energize' card. It states,

"If you have 2+ Characters with a cost of 5+ in your bridge, draw one
card"

Does this mean that the total cost is 5+ between the cards, or both Character cards have to individually have a cost of 5+?

Thanks for the help.

One way to remove the ships is to swap them out for the Standard Missions from the TOS game. If you prefer not to mix games, grab 15 other Missions/Events from the 2nd TNG game to replace the 15 Starships.
As you mentioned you can also make the starship battle only.

Hi, Love this game, I've played both TNG and TOS versions. I really like the TOS rules without the starship upgrades much better. How can I play the TNG game without upgrades? Should the ship cards be left in for combat or taken out entirely?

This question was asked in the forums but the answer wasn't very complete. I wondered if there were "official" rules about it.

Thanks!

1) The new card goes to your discard area unless the effect specifically state otherwise.
2) Correct, as long as the Mission is face-up in the Mission Area its effect will be active. That effect will stop once the Mission is completed OR moved to the bottom of the Space Deck.
3) Flipping a Draft Mission does not take an explore, but completing it does.
4) All except the turn player, who will continue his turn after the battle and will replenish when he finishes his turn.

Thanks for the quick response and for clearing up those issues. I have a few more questions.

When I "upgrade" a character does the new character go to my discard area, or does it go to where the old character came from? For example, Memory Alpha lets you upgrade a character in your hand or bridge.

Some missions seem to have ongoing effects such as "when you play a character your flag ship gets 1 damage." Do those stay in effect until the mission is completed?

Does flipping a draft mission count as your explore? Or do you get to attempt to complete it as well?

At the end of a battle do all "undeafeated" players get to replenish their hands too?
