Superhot. You know, I'm actually kind of glad in a way that they're not putting slots for the cards on these, because I can totally use them for other games at some point, instead of the constant stream of fantasy-themed playmats.

I think with this game and REDBG they missed a major opportunity with the mats

I would have liked to have seen a mat that was laid out more like the example of board setup in the rule book, that i would have bought. These mats are more generic and really don't add anything to the game

    it is really too bad

how would having the board layout printed on the mat add anything more to the game? Its an extremely simple layout, so I don't think anyone's really going to have any problems remembering where everything goes. Like the Magic playmats that have become so popular lately, these are just designed to give you a great graphic in your playspace that makes the overall game experience a bit more flavorful. Its an experience-aid, more than it is a play-aid.

I'm thinking of making a transparent overlay to cover the playmat that has the layout marked on it from the rulebook. I think it would help players just starting out and learning the game. Eventually, when the overlay isn't needed any more, we can play right on the graphics.

I was more thinking if they did it similar to the YUGIOH mats and had the layout ghostly over top of an image possibly.

Also being a major board gamer i like structure lol, not as much remembering but it would have made teaching nice, as you would have all the jargon names printed on the mat.

I may just get a custom play mat made that has that on it

I was thinking an lcars type mat with the game layout would be cool and then last night i had a crazy brainstorm.

I bought a hotz mat a long time ago for The Star Wars Starship battles game with 1" grid marks on it and a star field. Guess what?

It works SUPER AWESOME for this game. Each card fits very nicely in the center of a 2x2 grid block; the felt keeps them nicely in place without making it hard to pick up; the starfield looks AWESOME.

Here's a pic of my wife and i starting a 2-player Enterprise Edition Borg Scenario (no we did not win )

It worked out so well last night. I highly recommend something like this for anyone who wants something different than the official game mat.

How could you not win with a Peak Performance in the starting Starbase?

I'd love to see an official LCARS playmat with the sections laid out, maybe with mini-bridge mats for each player.
