Action Phase Question (exploration scenario)

Some Actions such as "a. play characters", can be preformed multiple times. But can you:
Play a character.
perform a search.
play a character.
spend xp
perform a search (if i have +1 search)
Play a maneuver (say a transporter, to bring a character from the discard to my hand)
play a character.

Or do I have to play all my characters at the same time (excepting battles and events that allow characters to be played at that time)?

In a turn, you can play any of your cards in any order. Characters then maneuvers the setups then back to characters is just fine
