I could totally see that being true, but Borg mode is impossible to win as it is. That would only make it worse . My group of 3 or 4 couldn't even win when we start ourselves out with 50 point ships, or not rolling over damage and not adding defeated Borg ships to the stats.

Hopefully Alex (the game designer) helps us out with the rules again soon, I haven't seen him post in a while.

    Hi All,

The Borg Cube in question works like so:

Starships fire in order of speed. Ships with the same speed fire simultaneously.
The only way to defeat the Borg Cube is to:
    1) One Shot it with 1 Ship by having 1 ship achieve enough attack on its own. (Easy enough right )
    2) Have several Starships achieve the exact same speed and have enough attack to defeat the Borg Cube.

So basically after each speed of ship(s) fire on the Borg Cube, it removes all its damage. So lets say every ship had 9 Attack and was way faster then the Borg Cube. If each of those Ships speed's are different, the Borg Cube would repair itself after every shot and would not be defeated.

    Hope that explains it.

Wow, seriously? So ships that are fast can be punished for being "too fast" if they're faster than other allied ships that are faster than the Borg? We've been playing it "wrong" from the start, and we still have less than a 50% win rate. I think we'll continue to play it "wrong". The game certainly isn't too easy when Borg ships don't regenerate.

Besides, it makes sense thematically. If two or more ships are faster than the Borg ship, wouldn't they choose to synchronize their attack, with the faster ships effectively reducing their speed to match that of the slowest ship among ships that are faster than the Borg cube? Then all the faster ships do damage simultaneously (as though they were tied in speed). Then, if it survives the combined assault, the Borg can regenerate before counter-attacking, and finally any surviving ships slower than the Borg could also synchronize their combined attack.

Yeah, that is an INSANE bar to meet to defeat a single Borg ship. I might be house ruling that process a bit...

holy hell...how is anyone supposed to win the borg scenario if thats how the cubes fight? found it impossible to get enough characters in hand at the same time to get enough stats to beat the locutus in the first place...but if i ran the cube fights like that i wouldn't have had a chance to even get to the locutus card....

Just to add a bit of clarity to this thread about the Borg ships. Only certain Borg ships have the text: "if not destroyed after one or more players has fired on it, remove all damage from this card". I believe the only Borg ships with this ability are in the TNG 2nd Edition of the game with the Borg Queen.

The rest of the Borg ships do not have this re-gen ability and hence are much easier to defeat. Overall, the Borg Version of this game is difficult, but very beatable. With more players in the game, the Borg Invasion version is much easier to win obviously.

As stated already, when you do face a Borg ship (especially one with the re-gen ability), match your ship's speed with your teammates to maximize damage and hopefully defeat the cube before it can attack back or re-gen. Borg Invasion is the ultimate test of teamwork in this DBG. Another tip, have each player focus on a specific strategy while playing that benefits the entire team. With specialized roles for each player, it helps in the long run of removing Borg Cards from your deck, upgrading to better Starships and fighting off Borg Cubes.
