Hello again everybody, for another wonderful edition of Raccoon City Survivors! On todays episode, we feature a public servant who took the law into his own hands when chaos reared it’s ugly head. Although failing to join S.T.A.R.S. twice, he led the charge into the Raccoon Police Department’s newly formed Select Police Force. His carefree attitude will charm you and his dedication will help him to carry you to the end of the game, ladies and gentlemen, its Kevvinnnnn Ryman!
Modeled straight after his Outbreak ability, Kevin starts the game off with an extra pistol in his Inventory. We couldn’t give Kevin just any pistol, oh no. We had to give him something that really reflected the powerhouse that was the .45 Auto. So we gave him Wesker’s personal favorite:
While it may not make sense that an Outbreak character has a Samurai Edge, it was clearly not good enough to have Kevin start with an additional basic pistol, and we really wanted to leverage that advantage as soon as possible, since the player using Kevin will be struggling to get the Samurai Edge online for the majority of the game. Bear in mind, although the Edge is powerful, it will not win the game on its own, so players are going to have to combine it with an extra effect or two to push it to its potential.
For those who I am sure are going to ask, even if the Samurai Edge is not in the game, Kevin will start with it in his Inventory. Special issue pistol for a special police officer.
So far we have only shown you two of our Outbreak survivors, with a 3rd on the way. Then we will pass the baton to the Infected to see if they have what it takes to decimate, or convert the survivors. Stay tuned!

It’s kind of overpowered that he gets a Samurai Edge as a default. He gets one more card than other players and it can do some serious damage & it won’t cost him anything. Everyone else has to wait until they can afford better weapons.
It isn’t entirely too powerful. In order to get it moving, you need 60 ammo, which isn’t readily available at the beginning of the game nor in the first few inventory shuffles. By then, people would have probably picked up shotguns and other weapons so they will likely be matched in fire power. The advantage is not having to use an early buy on a powerful weapon when you could use it for card draw or another useful action. All in all, it isn’t overpowered; just another unique strategy to follow.
Hi, I have a question.
What’s the meaning of GAIN on the SAMURAI EDGE?
only the word “Gain” in the ability or move a card to the discard plie?
It means moving a card to the Discard Pile by following the definition of Gain in the Rulebook
I’m glad to see more of the new set. It’s cool to see such attention to detail going into character powers–even if it breaks from the fiction just a bit. I can’t wait to see more.
the cards look great, can’t wait to see more!
but..Kevin is supposed to have his .45 gun, not the
Samurai Edge-that’s mostly a S.T.A.R.S gun.
So, about the second ability on his card, when you move a Pistol from your play area to the top of your deck, what if you do this WHILE you explore, similar to the timing of someone using an Uroboros Injection on another player’s Infected target? I trust you wouldn’t keep the damage from the weapon to use on that explore? Why would you want to do this? Maybe you reveal an Exploding Barrel and would rather NOT blow yourself up.
After exploring, it’s certainly a good way to set up a weapon for your next round’s attack.
