Mercenaries Expansion Preview: Trashing via Thrashing

We’ve been hush hush over here at the office, mostly due to the “earthquake” earlier, but also because we enjoy ratcheting up the tension as much as any mansion deck does. Today I was asked to preview everyones favorite weapon type: Shotguns.

Not this time around! Design wise, we decided to revise the Shotgun to be a win more type of archetype. When you defeat an infected with it, you get a unique ability. In this case, the easiest effect was trashing, but we didn’t just want you to trash, that’s too boring. Trashing AND putting on your best “umadbro?” face? Now there’s a novel concept!

Not only does this allow you to trash a card, but allows from either the discard pile or your hand, giving you a more varied range than any trash card prior. This set has a trash action, but due to the speed at which a Mercenaries type game has to be played, a weapon that trashes was a necessity amongst the sea of zombie slaying paraphernalia in order to keep the game fast and exciting. Plus, by putting a trash mechanic, everyone is curious as to whether or not the top card of the mansion will die to you. For all they know, their about to be the fantastic new owner of an Ammo x10!
