Mercenaries Expansion Preview: Run Away, Run Away!!!!

It’s Friday, and besides that meaning a weekend marathon of RE6 for me, that means a preview for all of you from the upcoming Mercenaries release! Today I have an interesting Action card for everyone. One that symbolizes that sinking dread you feel crawling up your spine when you realize you are completely and utterly scared out of your wits.

This card was originally born out of necessity: we needed a very basic draw card like Mansion Foyer, but it was also born out of my innate disdain for the “shotgun roll” play strategy, stacking explores with tons of damage to roll through the mansion as quickly as possible, slaying every infected you see. As an aside, I also wanted a card with a picture showing Chris soon to receive his come uppance (Barry 4 lyfe!), but that’s beside the point.

The number 1 weakness shared by end game is that the player ahead has typically sacrificed more life than the players who are behind. The reason you have so much health in this game is so you can make a great deal more mistakes. This is why I never understood the waiting game, as you are squandering a resource you have been given by the game, and even urged to spend as a child in a candy store. For those who like to wait until their deck is perfect, this card is definitely for you to counter aggressive players like myself who enjoy opening a door every turn with only two knives.

It’s not the same as good old Uroboros Injection, but it definitely gets the job done, preventing your opponents from scoring the much needed kills, giving you more time to finish perfecting your deck, not to mention you can take a moment and savor the vision of the usually stoic heroes of Resident Evil faltering in their confidence and running away with a horrified expression painted on their face.
