Fortunately, Anderson gave us the Mortal Kombat version of Resident Evil before the Mortal Kombat Annihilation of Resident Evil.

Sorry, my mistake. They kept five names. Umbrella, Licker, Spencer Estate, T-Virus, and S.T.A.R.S. Even though their S.T.A.R.S. team is a privately funded security force paid for by Umbrella, instead of a Police subgroup trained to handle terrorist situations.
Also, what modern death machines? You mean the laser hallway? That's one death machine, and it was futuristic, not modern.
