Infected Characters and skills

If playing Outbreak mode with the skill system, when a player becomes an infected character, will the player loose its skills or will that player keep them? (Of course if the player keeps the skills after becoming an infected, I assume some of the skills will become useless as the player will no longer be able to use weapons, explore the mansion, etc.)
And if they do keep the skills do they keep gaining Experience points?

It doesnt state anywhere in the rule book but considering you lose your partner when you get infected, I assume the same with skills. Otherwise you can make your house rules
