    Re: Tear Gas Damage Eligibility

    Good afternoon all!

For the Tear Gas Action card, "Discard cards from the top of your Inventory until you Discard a Weapon. If you Discarded a Weapon, your Character deals an additional 10 Damage during this turn for each card Discarded."

So here is my question: Do you have to have a weapon in you play area already to tack the extra damage onto or is it free damage that does not require you to have a weapon in.

Example: I have 4 30x Ammo Cards 1x Tear Gas. I play my Tear Gas card and Discard until I get 90 damage. I Explore and pull out the Red Executioner (or some infected). Since I did not have an actual Weapon in my hand or Play Area do I still do 90 damage or not?

Sorry if this seems obvious to others but we had a big debate about it last night when playing and we were evenly split between the wording "additional" in the card's effect as meaning you have to already be dealing damage with something even if it is a combat knife.

Thanks so much all and have a great day!

No, you do not have to have a weapon to deal damage. So your character is basically dealing 90 damage for free, with no weapons.

    Thanks Smex!

I was sure it was the other way but I am glad to have that cleared up. Thanks so much!

Yeah, key bit here is "your character deals..."

If it said, "One weapon you are using deals..." (such as Lone Wolf, or Premier Barry's level 1) then you would need to have a weapon in play.

As Smex said, you don't need a weapon to deal damage. I think they said in one of the handbooks (can't remember which) that all characters have a base damage of 0, so you can actually go Ninja on the infected using your hands and feet =p

I believe Alliance was the first to state the 0 base damage thing, probably because it introduced Characters that got base damage.
