Jack Krauser's level 1 ability

Hi there, my friend recently got me into this game and after playing a few times, I've run into some confusion over Jack Krauser's level 1 ability.
It says "At the beginning of your turn, you can gain 1 "Knife" Weapon." My question is:
1) where does this knife weapon come from? Does it come from the resource area or the discard pile or your inventory? 2) does it cost any gold?
3) And if it comes from the resource area, what happens if the resource area runs out of knife weapons?

You get it for free from the resource pile, any knife, including the survival knife so long as it's on the top of its pile.
If tthe resource pile runs outta knives, then you simply cant get any more

This is accurate. Also, this means that the "Knife" weapon you gain is completely free!

Remember, "Gain" is always from the resource area to your discard pile.
