What Counts As A Pistol?

I'm pretty sure I already know the answer to this question but...

when using the card "Handgun Technique Lv. 3" what counts as a pistol? Is it any card that says pistol in its name like "Machine Pistol W/ Stock" or only cards that have Pistol written in parentheses underneath the name such as "Custom Standard Sidearm (pistol)
