    Good intro/fun setup for newbies?

I'm likely going to introduce RE to one or more people tonight, and I want to know which setup I should use that would give the best impression to new people. 1 guy in particular is a big Dominion fan, and likes Thunderstone, so I'm sure he'll like RE, and he's familiar with Deck building games in general.

Any suggestions? I have every set, so I'm thinking of either just doing the Neophyte setup from Mercenaries, with Skills added. I want to leave out Lone Wolf and RCPD because the misprinted cards will cause confusion and make the game seem unprofessional (hint: bandai really needs to send out reprints/fixes for these).

i would recommend the first set.
it is the simplest so that they can get the hang of the game.
maybe add a few of the more interesting monsters to the mansion and/or use the base resources from mercs.
i would hold off on skills until they got the rest of the game down.
if you have too much going on at once it will be hard to figure out what theyre supposed to do.

That's true that Skills may add too much overhead to the game to make it more complicated, but I do feel it really helps the balance of the game. I'll put some more thought into it and figure out something.

I have always stuck with the intro scenario from the premier set (making sure to use only premier characters as well).

This in my opinion comes out to be the best intro because this is the set and scenario that every other set was based on. It covers all the basics required to be successful and forms an excellent foundation to introducing the other game modes in fairly short order. I would consider using the mercs basic resources, however. Those outclass the regular basics in every concievable way.
And I hate dancing. That is one of my least favorite things to do. Other things that I hate are exercise, work, people, stupid people.

I've had success using the Mercenaries "Neophyte" setup to introduce some players recently. Skills are so awesome that'd I'd probably want them at the table, but going with the premier mansion is a good way to reduce the complexity. That'd be my pick: Mercenaries "Neophyte" with premier mansion.

Thanks for the replies. I was planning to introduce the guy to Resident Evil after we finished a game of Arkham Horror, but that game ended up taking around 3.5 hours, so we didn't have time. I'll try getting it back out in a couple weeks at another get together.

The people I play with I introduced with full-on Premier set. I was originally going to set it up exactly how I was taught at GenCon by the people at the Bandai booth: Premier without Uroboros Alerhi (making Nemesis the "boss"), and removing the Gatling Gun. However, one of the players wanted the "full experience"- to which he regretted later when he got Uroboros three times during his first game.

You should make a Resident Evil board game with miniatures that has mansion/police department exploration. I would name my first born Tylar if you did that. :P

It's feasible it would be successful. Both Doom and Gears of War have had really successful board game adaptations.
