The New Basic Resources

Are the new basic resources from Mercenaries meant to replace the original basic resources completely? If so, does this mean that the original stacks of basic resources from the first four boxes are no longer treated as basic resources for purposes of resource selection but are to be treated as stacks to choose from like everything else after the basics are in place? Is the intention to mix and match the sets of basic resources if desired?

I believe its a one or the other proposition...

Your group gets to choose which one it wants to use. Using both together would be silly as one set is clearly better than the other and could lead to people fighting over cards...

i think its up to personal preference what you want to use as your starters as long as you give everyone the same starting deck.
although mixing them together would be a unique way to give someone new a slight edge over someone more experienced.

The new resources are amazing. If I take the old basic resources out of my Nightmare box, I should be able to fit all of Mercenaries in the box along with the other 4 expansions.
