Partner mode is basically EZMODO. There's no reason to play it once you have any significant amount of skill. Certain characters gain a lot more power in Partner mode (such as Josh, Kevin Ryman, etc.) but there's really no reason to play it. Games can end fast with good play anyway. Why do I need to have an even easier time to play through the game? I find the person who gets the first special weapon usually ends the game incredibly fast and certain weapons like Flamethrower and the Set 5 Shotgun have seriously broken synergy with the mode. I like my games to last a lot longer and have more strategy, thank you.

He's always had options. That doesn't mean they're good.

I'll take Wesker, Leon, Hunk, Mark, Rebecca, Sheva, Mikhal, or Barry over David King any day. These are all better rush characters than David and they all have vastly superior end games. You don't seem to understand that late game in this game is bat**** broken. Unless your early game puts you light years ahead of your opponent, you are going to get stomped into oblivion...which is why characters like Leon, Hunk, Mark, and Mikhal are all better than him since their rush is broken while the others (Wesker, other Leons, Sheva, and Rebecca) all have stupidly good late game scaling/hit the late game ages before other players.

Am I underrating David? Maybe. But not by much. He's at best the worst character in C Tier.

If you want my credentials as a player, since you seem to think I don't know how to do X thing, I made top 8 at the championship event at GenCon. The only person to beat me was the person who won the whole thing. The person who made 2nd is the person I play with on a regular basis. Considering there was 100+ or higher people in this event and I made it that far should give you a good indication that I know what the heck I'm talking about.

The thing about Partner mode is that it's just that: a different mode. It would have its own tier breakdown, much like Outbreak (Excella is probably still top, along with aggro characters like Premiere Leon and Reaper Hunk), Mercenaries (haven't played in a while, but I still remember any tanks are insane, since you only get one life), and Versus (hardly played at all anymore, but Nightmare Ada at Level 2 is literally unbeatable). The same rules just don't apply.

This. Infection mode has a lot of flaws so we don't really play it and the majority of players who play the game don't play it either.

Partner mode is fantastic if you want to play the game quickly but the short length, lack of strategy, and people just going broken almost instantly make it just boring to play as everyone hits the mansion for ridiculous numbers and flips over a stack of like 5 cards without even worrying about the math behind it. It gets old very quickly.

Versus is just a horribly flawed mode. I've played it once and never looked back as it is probably the least balanced of all the modes.

Story is the standard mode. It's the most played mode. It's the mode I do the list for... there's just far too many variables to figure out for the other modes.

If you want a cheat sheet:

Partner Mode: Josh isn't unplayable (probably C tier), Kevin is better, Claire Set 2 is probably an A tier, Jack Krauser (Alliance) is better. Everyone else is roughly the same

Infection Mode: Excella is the top of S tier, Rebecca is A Tier, Jill is B Tier, Mark is A Tier, Pretty much every Chris shifts up a tier except Set 5 and LIN. Jack Krauser Set 2 basically goes to F or D Tier

Versus: Nightmare Ada is insane, higher health characters are better regardless of the effects.

I was originally going to add that Story is the only mode used for tournaments, but that's actually not the case. The Win-a-Mat tournaments from GenCon 2012 were actually all Partners, because (if I recall) all that they had to use for events was Alliance. Pretty weird, really. Either way, I had Krauser as my lead with Claire as my partner, and it was pretty insane. No Gathering Forces in the pool made Claire less good, but buying/using Green Herbs just for value was exceptional, since they counted as 20 damage due to Claire, which was better than 10 damage as just a blank with Krauser. I still only managed to barely beat a guy using Hunk/Billy (i.e. the 2 best characters in that set from that set, and it really isn't close).

So yeah, Partners mode... kinda unrealistic.

I absolutely agree that partners mode is far easier than vanilla story mode, but with these new skill cards, I think partners is noticeably less damaged in comparison. It's still generally going to be a bit overpowered compared to skills, but it's fairly close - certainly comparable... some of the synergies are ridiculous.

Anyway, I like partners mode just from a mechanical point of view (and we always play outbreak), so maybe my opinion isn't worth anything.

Tsukiyome you honestly think tournament credentials counts in a game like this, lol. Between deadly aim, some of the skills, boundless battlefield , and his first ability David can skyrocket ahead oft he pack pretty early. With the new basic resources there isnt much of an end game is all players are on point

I have to ask... What is so great about Boundless Battlefield? As opposed to other trash cards like Quirk of Fate and (especially) Ominous Battle, that is.

In relation to David, you discard 2 knives then get them back. Other wise, nothing.

pretty much what you said 135 forte. its a quick way to add 15 dmg to a turn by discarding 2 knives and thrash one and rebuy what you thrashed. without ne skills , deadly aim, injection, or survival knife i can average out 60 dmg pretty quick
