Man this board is dead for an expansion that comes out on Friday.

Let's liven things up with some more spoilers or a rulebook PDF

It really HAS been quiet for a few days now. No word on Nurse Becca, Reaper Hunk, the rulebook, or ANYTHING recently.

The site wasn't working for me a few days back, so if it wasn't just me, they might have been busy fixing it.

I think the novelty of the game has worn off. Even I find myself not so enthralled by it. I keep checking back hoping something will spark my interests again, but the lack of updates is rather boring. The site needs to be more interactive.

This friday? Really? Huh... In any case, yeah, I'm not sure why there haven't been more previews. They always work on people like me. The more I see revealed, the more I want the new shinies. I'll be honest though, even though I really like what I've seen so far from this set, I wasn't planning on getting it anyways. But I also gotta say that the few previews we did see almost made me cave. Almost. Had there been more previews, who knows. I know they don't like to spoil a set which is why they don't have all the cards posted on this site, but its a bit ridiculous at this point. Really every other game I follow gives regular updates/previews of their upcoming product. The previews on here seem...erratic at best. More of an after-thought than an advertising method. Even when there is a preview, the chatter on this board is pretty tame which should speak volumes about their marketing strategy. If the people who already play the game say 'meh' then what chance do you have of getting new players? I dunno...maybe I'm oversimplifying again...

The year in between updates has probably had a lot to do with it. I've actually been out of DBG / gaming in general for a long time other than the occasional stint every few months. Looking forward to some new cards, but there really hasn't been that much in terms of exciting features as a whole to drive gaming. I think the DBG bubble expanded and burst possibly a bit too soon. With Dominion / Thunderstone on there umpteenth expansion things started to get a little monotonous.

I'm still stoked about the new set, but yeah it has been really quiet in here. It's also a bit upsetting that they seem to put more focus on facebook instead of the official forums. I've been checking the facebook page and it's been quiet there as well.

Actually that makes sense to me. Facebook is probably one of the best ways to get some free advertising. Well, then I'm assuming that corporations like Bandai don't pay for some sort of corporate perks or something on there either. In any case, there are probably a good amount of fringe gamers on there that could come across the REDBG page and get into the game like that. Everyone on these forums already knows and/or owns some or all of the product already.

I know I'm just beating a dead horse here, but it really doesn't surprise me that there has been so little official stuff going on here. The customer service part of the Bandai ccg/dbg is pretty awful. I know that's not necessarily the same group that handles the previews, but it seems like they at least share the same mentality. Pick one day each week where something from the new set is previewed. Make sure something is posted. It doesn't have to be every week between releases, that would be unreasonable. But 4-6 weeks out from release? There are probably 15-20 different cards (not including the mansion) preveiwing less than half isn't too much to ask. A random article about a new game mechanic thrown in for good measure? A fan vote on one of the cards that will be included in a future expansion? Just a check-in to say your still alive and ask if anyone is excited about the new expansion? Anything? Bueller?

*sigh* ...a few days out and there is no excitement on their own official forums. Why would one support a game like this? How can one justify supporting it? I really like this game...honestly I do. But I can't support it. And I can't recommend buying it to anyone either.

Agree with all the above. The timing of the previews has been so inconsistent that the momentum that is ordinarily created just dissipates. Veteran players are probably excited by the new basic resources, but they are hardly exciting to new players, and they literally consumed half of all the previews thus far. The skills ARE exciting, but the preview was not concrete in its rules explanation, so no one really knows just how they are selected and used (i.e. when do I cash in XP to acquire the skill?) And the boss was visible on the Gencon poster.

To get people excited, previews need to start at least one month in advance (probably two for a lesser known game like this), with a new card coming consistently each week. Then a week or two before, preview a new card almost every day or so. Run fan polls. Do a media blitz on Facebook, Twitter, website, whatever. Increased frequency builds momentum among established players and tips off potential new players that the game is about to be released. Come on Bandai!
