    A few questions to ask

OK I've got all 4 sets and a few things I've run into during play

1: When you play an action card are you able to use a healing item as well?

2: Is the Guardian of Insanity's Effect for Partner Mode?

3: If you have the Kevlar Vest Equipped and you encounter the Rocket Militia what happens?

4: How does the Gatling Gun work?, I've not acquired it yet but i want to know

5: Do you shuffle all Explosive Weapons into the same pile?

sorry for sounding rather silly with these questions

    1. Healing cards aren't actions/buys/weapons. As long as you are not in the middle of another effect (not during an explore, for example), then you can play any/all healing items you want.

    2. The effect is the effect. It always happens when you reveal the infected. However, the suggested mansion for the standard play mode suggests taking them out of the mansion, iirc. I keep them in myself though.

    3. Iirc, Kevlar vest's text says it stops damage from one source. It doesn't matter what the source is, it is stopped.

    4. With all X ammo cost X damage weapons, you declare what X will be for that particular use, then you apply any effects that may change ammo cost/damage, play the required ammo and proceed with the explore as normal.

Example: I have Chris (alliance) at level 1. My hand is 3x [Ammo x 10], Gatling Gun (GG) and an herb. I declare that I am exploring. At this point I put down all the weapons that I will be using during the explore. Just the GG. Since it is an X cost/X dmg weapons I will now also need to declare what X equals. I declare 50. GG is now a 50 ammo/50 dmg weapon. Chris' level 1 ability reduces ammo cost by -20 when playig a single weapon. GG now becomes 30 ammo/50 dmg. I put down the ammo x10 cards from my hand to 'pay' for the 30 ammo. I continue with the rest of the explore/rest of my turn as usual.

    5. That's completely up to you. Playing strictly by the rules, I'd say that you would not. Selecting Grenades and HE Grenades would mean that 2 of the resource piles have been selected. The usual game is played with 12 resource piles and if you shuffle the similar types of weapons together, then you end up with less than that. However, many of us have played the way you suggest and instead of selecting a particular weapon (HE Grenade), we select a weapon type (Explosive) and take all of the weapons of that type and shuffle them together.

    Not silly at all.

While you could shuffle all the same type weapons into the same pile, I have found that it doesn't work very well. With the Explosive weapons it's hard to get what you want any time and you can get locked out of, for example, the Shotgun pile early game by a Riot Gun easily.

I know what you mean. It's happened to me a few times. However, the shotgun example, I believe, is probably not going to be a issue unless its the Automatic or the Triple Barrel. Pump-actions aren't the best in the game and while the damage output is decent early game, it quickly becomes more of a burden than a bonus because of the 40 ammo requirement. There are characters that will help this, like Alliance Chris, but if you aren't using one of them, then your going to want to upgrade that pump-action to a riot asap anyways. The biggest disadvantage I've experienced so far is to get locked out of Russian Assault Rifles early game (i.e. everyone else got to buy one but then the last one that comes up is the original machine gun, forget its name). As for explosives, they tend to not be the weapon of choice in my games. Mainly because of the use then trash effect. Totally accurate, but not usually the best choice in early game buys.
