Can you play with 5 players?

I have the original + alliance that I purchased at Origins last year and have only had the opportunity to play the game once. Next month I plan on having 4 guys over for a gaming weekend and was wondering how a 5 player game worked. I assume since the box says 1-4 players there are not enough resources available with just the original game.

Any suggestions on possibly combining the two sets for a good 5 player game for total newbs?

    Thanks in advance.

Since we will all be "new", I'd like to stick with "Story Mode", the first scenario in the original game.

You should be ok w 5 players...make sure you have enough basic resources which you should seeing as you have both premier and alliance. I wouldnt go any higher than that though as it could get very hard to get a decent deck running.
And I hate dancing. That is one of my least favorite things to do. Other things that I hate are exercise, work, people, stupid people.

I also recommend playing with 3 more card piles (usually 3 actions, or 1 weapon and 2 actions) when playing with over 4 people, that way there's some more options for people and you don't run short on piles as often.

Yeah, as others have said, since both Premier and Alliance came with basic resources, you should be fine with a 5 player game. You'll want to consider modifying the resource piles a bit. On top of adding more resource piles, I'd consider adding the extra Survival Knife and Burst Fire Pistol to the corresponding piles so there are 2 in each of them. I wouldn't add the regular Combat Knives/Pistols though, only the special ones. I'd also think about combining both mansions, but probably not for your first game. You'll want a quick game to start just to get the hang of everything before committing the time for a double mansion game. Though, at 5 players, that might not take all too long either (depending on resources and if you can figure out a way to streamline your deck).

If you find that resource piles are running out too quickly, then consider combining like effect cards. More easily done with weapons than actions though. Example: combine all shotguns from both sets into one pile. Example: combine Quirk of Fate and Shattered Memories into one pile (as they both trash cards).
