Ch42 Leon + gathering forces

Question: does leon ability to +1 card when gain a card still apply when using gathering forces?

Because as i understand that to gain a card it has to be into discard pile, but with gathering forces it will be in the hand instead. Does it still counts as card gain?

As you said, 'gaining' means taking a card from the supply and putting it into your discard. Gather Forces changes that to putting it into your hand. Nothing in Leon's ability, iirc, mentions that the card being gained must go into the discard, ergo the modified 'gain' from Gathering Forces would trigger Leon's ability.
