    David King - Combination Suggestions

Does everyone have any favorites for utilizing his skills? At first I thought this would be an awesome ability, but once I read the opinion on his tier status and then actually using him, I felt a bit underwhelmed.

I understand a knife would be a weapon of choice to attach effects to, but without doing damage what are the most useful effects for weapons that aren't physically discarded or more useful when played?

Grenades? Causing the modified weapon to get trashed?
Shotguns? Doing an extra explore possibly with less damage?

I feel that I'm missing something.

Auto shotgun is the best one I would think...lets make this knife insta kill something w 40 or less health...yeah!
I could see it being useful with a flashbang too if you wanted to get rid of a knife.
Or the flamethrower...now you have an X+5 damage, for the same ammo cost.
And I hate dancing. That is one of my least favorite things to do. Other things that I hate are exercise, work, people, stupid people.

When I use David I just use explosives to trash my knives and handgun and then just play him like a regular character with the only strategy mod being that I will afford myself 1-2 more guns with useful game text over what his ammo ratio is.

Just play what weapons are good and obviously keep a few excess weapons like any shotguns, samurai edge, punisher, or burst fire. Anything that has amazing game text without needing to be fired.

I do love David's ability to trash bad weapons by discarding flashbang. Flashbang has SUCH good game text and it's awesome getting to always keep a few copies of it in your deck.

Thanks, I spent a little time looking through the weapons again, and as you guys said mostly specialized weapons are going to do the trick. Which really does shift his strategy to make sure he gets one. :-/

In the case of the Flamethrower, It'd still be X+5 even with playing both or discarding it wouldn't it?

Yep, though it could get around a Reinforced Licker blanking the Flamethrower.

There is also the fact that the weapon (flamethrower) gets trashed as well. So that is an additional +5dmg from the effect.

Okay, starting to get the hang of this a bit. I really like the bolt action rifle along with the knife that's for sure.

One thing I'm not getting though... What's the deal with the 2nd Level, I play a knife to reload a knife?? What on earth is the point of that... Both get used, so is it just to get an extra 5 damage? If typically the idea is to discard a card to apply its effect to a knife and I already have a knife in my hand, why do I need to get another knife if I can only apply the level one effect to one weapon?

... or does it have something to do with partner mode? To bypass two weapons already attached to him if he were a partner?

As you say, you can 'reload' a knife with his level 2. Most of the time it won't be more than +5. The only time that changes is if you have the Survival knife in your discard and other knives in your hand. One combo to look out for is when you have the Survival Knife and at least one other weapon in your hand, preferably another knife. You can discard the Survival to give your other weapon a bonus for each other knife you are using. Then bring the Survival Knife back from your discard and you now have 2 weapons that get a bonus for each other knife in play.

Best case scenario with only knives:

You draw 4 combat knives and the Survival knife. Discard Survival to give one of your Combat knives the same ability, then take the Survival back to deal 70 damage.

Okay, thanks. That makes sense, but I wasn't sure if that was legit per the text only saying 'Knife' and not a card with 'Knife' in its name like the way George & Cindy's effects are explain in relation to 'Herb's

With all the new weapons coming out in mercenaries, David King seems to be looking at a buff
