Bitores mendez actually says "exploring character's player gets an extra turn after this one" Wouldn't that be applying a redundant statement twice, kind of like how doubling the effect of Zombie Butcher "skip that player's next turn" doesn't work.

Zombie Butcher says "skip next turn" while Mendez grants an extra turn.
but it also says "After this one" if you apply effects twice individually such as the case with the Zombie butcher you cant have two turns immediately after this turn at the same time.
"After this one" implies the current turn you are already on, after you finish your extra turn the floating effect wouldn't apply again because the previous turn has ended and the requirement expired.
What happens if I have the most decorations and 70 damage (80 maximum health) and reveal a hunter. How does this infected's effect work? Do I take 2 -20 tokens?
That's how I've been reading and playing it. You take the first -20 for the effect, which then means you're knocked out (being now at 60 Max Health and 70 dmg), so you flip your character card over, skip your turn and when you flip him back up take a -20 as per normal KO recovery.
"A dirty mind is its own reward."
^That is the correct way of doing it.
