So, it's not that hard ;-)
    you get infection-level when you:
    a) Do not explore (1 Infection)
    b) Play a "Power Of The T-Virus" (1 Infection no matter how many you play and no matter if you explore or not)
    c) can't defeat the "Web Spinner" (1 Infection)
    d) reveal the "Yawn" (1 Infection if your infection level is 6 or higher, 2 infections if it's 5 or less)
    e) You can't defeat the "Tyrant T-002" (Your currant character's level + 1, so i.e. you play as Mark and you have 2 decorations (lv. 1) and you reveal the Tyrant and can't defeat him you get 70 damage plus 2 infections)
    d) get attacked by an infected character who plays an "Infection" (The white one with the bubbles) (1 Infection per card)
All players get +1 Infection if Nemesis is revealed and if someone defeats "Lisa Trevor" the exploring character has to pick a player, that player gets +1 Infection.
You can decrease your Infection-level by:
    a) revealing an "Anti-Virus" (3 Infections if you have 6 or more, if you have less than 6 it doesn't help you)
    b) playing a "By Any Means Necessary ..."-card (-1 Infection and you have the ability to change some infection-cards you don't wanna have)
    c) trashing an "Injection" (-1 Infection)
    d) your character's ability (only Jill (CH-025) and Rebecca (CH-029))

You become an Infected if your Infection-level is 10 or higher. If this happens discard all your cards and shuffle all your infection-cards and all the other cards into your inventory. Then draw randomly an Infected Character (Your Main Character is face down from now on) and draw 5 cards from your inventory. When it's your turn you can play as many infection cards from your hand as you want to. All the other cards are useless to you (except Uroboros injection, but you can only play it when it's not your turn). During your turn your only option is to weather explore or not. To explore means to attack another player. If you do so play the infection cards and do as many damage as the icon says + your base damage. Also watch the effects listed on the cards. You might get a second explore, heal yourself or add more damage by these effects. If you have a second explore tell the other players which one you attack and with how much damage.
After exploring your turn is over and you discard all your cards in your play area and from your and and draw 5 new.
There are special cards in your infection deck which allows you to trash normal cards or protect yourself from damage.
When you die the player you killed you gets your highest decoration, if you kill someone you take randomly one of his decorations and put it out of the game.
The game is over when the Tyrant-002 is defeated or all characters are dead or turned into infected. The player with the most decorations wins the game, no matter if he's still alive or infected.

In a few words: You get infection by not exploring or revealing/playing several cards and as infected it's your task to kill the other characters. ;-)

You gain them during the normal game, before you become an infected. But after you became an infected you add these cards to your inventory.
For each infection you get during the normal game as non-infected you draw an infection card and put it next to your character.

Nearly right, you can also have more than 10 infection cards, i.e. you have an infection level of 9 and your character's (ability) level is 2. You explore and reveal Tyrant-002 and can't defeat him. You get 3 infection and become an infected with 12 infection cards ;-)
But you're completely right: These cards become together with your old inventory your new inventory ;-)

As infected you can't earn decorations. You can only make your opponents loose one (for this you have to kill the character your attacking). So your main aim as infected should be to detain the other ones from getting more decorations.

Actually, from what I've read on the forums, there is absolutely no way to gain more than 10 infection cards. Even in the case you describe, you gain only 1 infection level and then immediately turn into an infected character which then means that you can't gain any more infections and ignore the second infection.

This is incorrect. As hero guy said you cannot have more than 10 infection cards for any reason. The rules state you die and become infected as soon as you hit 10, at which point you lose the ability to gain cards (for all intents and purposes). At the current time there is no way to have more than 10 infection levels.
And I hate dancing. That is one of my least favorite things to do. Other things that I hate are exercise, work, people, stupid people.

Wait, what happens if you do draw an Anti-Virus with 9 infection and you reduce your infection by 3 to 6. Now you can technically gain 4 more infection points.
