Hand Cannon Question

Hey all Deckbuilding Gamers out there,

Got a question for ya. can anyone give me the best explanation on how to use the Hand Cannon from the Outbreak Expansion to Resident Evil. To me and my friends the card makes no sense, here is the text on it for all:

Hand Cannon
120 Gold
Text on Card: Trash 1 Ammunition from your Play Area. This Card cannot be attached to Characters.
80 Ammo Required 80 Damage

essentually you have to have more ammo than required since the card requires you to trash one of the ammo cards that you played with it.

But what does it mean when it says it cant be attached to characters. We dont understand that part of the text

In Partner Mode (introduced in the Alliance set), you can attach weapons to your second character so you'll always have access to them. That text on Handcannon is only relevant then.

Do you have to follow the effect first? I don't remember the exact rules on that. If you play an action card it's first the icons and than the effect, if you play the automatic shotgun it's first the icons (meaning the ammo requirement) and then the text. Are you sure you have to trash the ammo first (cause if it could also be: trash an ammunition from your hand)?
And the part with "cannot be attached": Yep, it's only for partner mode where you attach weapons to your partner.

I think the ammo you have to trash, is the same ammo you load the hand cannon, for example, you play 2 ammo x30 and 2 ammo x10, then you can trash the ammo x 10. Not only for partners mode the cards are attached to characters, remember that playing with yoko you can attach to her a card face down and change it for another in some other turn. I guess a player cannot attach the hand cannon to yoko because for this effect.

The card says to trash one ammo card you played that turn, which to me says you can trash a Treasure if you want, and since it has to have been played, that means you get the ammo and gold the card gives you.

it says trash an ammo in your play area doesn't mean it had to have been used for that gun as long as it's in the play area and used for somthign. so you can trash even treasure as long as it was played and used for something.

You can trash it as long as you played it...it doesnt matter weather or not you used the gold or ammo provided on the card.

I would argue you can attach the Hand Cannon face down to Yoko. While it is face down, it is just a card. It isn't until it is face up and played is it a "Hand Cannon" and that is when all the rules are applied.
