Lightbulb Hotel Zombie - A Team Game

    Hotel Zombie

It has been 47 days since the first incident, everything and everyone you know are gone. Homes destroyed, buildings burnt to the ground, streets filled with abandon cars and only the cannibalistic monsters remain. Running low on supplies you know it is only a matter of time before you will have to escape this city.

During a scout mission your group of survivors finds a small radio broadcasting information of a rescue operation to pick up survivors from the area. The group is instructed to go to the top of the old Hotel in the middle of the city. Wasting no time your group grabs what they can and heads for the Hotel.

    Objective:
The premise is simple. Each player works together to battle and reach the twelfth floor of the Infected Hotel. The Hotel is divided into 12 floors each with a predetermined set of infected for the group to battle. As the group advances up the hotel the number of infected increases.

The Setup: (What you need to play the game)
    ■Premier Set
    ■Alliance Set

Before I go into the inner workings of the game, I need to cover what you need to set up the game. This game is designed to use cards from the 1st (Premier) and 2nd (Alliance) sets of the Resident Evil Deck Building Game.

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Victory Conditions:
    Survive all 12 floors
    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    THE MANSION
The Mansion has been refined to make for a more challenging experience.

Below is the mansion cards to be used for the Hotel Mansion deck. On the left you will see cards only from the Premier and Alliance set. If you wish to use cards from Nightmare and Outbreak I have included a Hotel Deck setup and it shows which cards you will replace.

I wanted to keep the Mansion card count low, so when the mansion deck run out of cards each player picks the fewest number of mansion cards attached to their character with decorations equal to their 2nd level requirement (Players have the option of picking a single card like a boss that has a higher decoration count to keep instead) to keep and places the rest back into the mansion. Once all players have done this then the mansion deck is shuffled and the game continues.
    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    The Hotel:
The Hotel is divided into 12 floors. There are 3 different difficulties to pick from based on how many players are in the game. Normal (for 2), Hard (3 or 4) and Professional (4). For your first game I suggest either Normal or Hard. I will cover Professional later.

Basically when the party advances to a new floor they have to fight the predetermined number of mansion cards for the floor they are on. For example in a 3 player game, when the party reaches floor 6 they would have to deal with at least 5 mansion cards.

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Starting Inventory:
Players build their starting decks from the cards in the resource area. Each player starts the game with 200 gold to spend on cards. Cards are picked in a round robin fashion. (The group will decide who goes first).

    Starting Inventory Restrictions:

■Players can not buy cards that cost more than 50 gold during initial inventory picking phase.
■Also each player must have exactly 10 cards before the game starts.
■Players can search through stacks when buying initial cards
Players then shuffle their decks, weapon stacks in the resource area and are now ready to take on the Hotel!

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    How the Game Works:
Instead of each player exploring on their own, Each round all players will explore at the same time .

    Setup
Each Player Starts by Drawing a 5 card Hand like Normal

    Check the Floor Status
The floor status can either be New or In Progress. This determine the steps players follow to complete the round.

1.If the party has just arrived on this floor at the end of the previous round then the Floor status is New:

    A.Player Actions
    B.Buy Phase
    C.Assignments
    D. Reveal
    E. Damage
    i.Assigned Player
    ii.Infected
    iii.Left Over
    F.Regroup

2.If there are any infected in play at the beginning of the this round then the Floor status is In Progress
    A.Player Actions
    B.Reassignment
    C. Damage
    i.Assigned Player
    ii.Infected
    iii.Left Over
    D.Regroup

Below are the steps in detail.

    Player Actions:
Instead of each player taking their turn separately, all players do the following at the same time:

    ■Play Action Cards
    ■Item Cards
    ■Ammo Cards
    ■Weapon Cards
    ■Use any character abilities
■Give Motion - (Once Per Turn you can give another player one of your cards from your hand.)
■Then each player declares how much damage they can do this round.

    Assignments
This is probably the most strategic part of the game. Once you have more mansion cards to deal with than there are players, the group must decide who is going to take what and this depends on how much damage each player is doing and health of the characters.

■Mansion Cards can be divided amongst the players any way the group decides (before they are revealed).
■Characters can be assigned any number of Mansion cards.
■Each player is responsible for Mansion cards that are assigned to their character.
■The assigned Character receives the decorations and items along with taking any damage dealt by their assigned infected.
■Also the assigned character must defeat all assigned infected to them before they can use any leftover damage.

    Reassignments:
No additional Mansion cards are revealed this round however any infected already in play considered unassigned must be assigned before damage is dealt.

    Reveal
Once all the Mansion cards are assigned then all mansion cards are revealed at the same time.

■Cards like Infected Wesker or Infected bat affect/are affected by all mansion cards revealed. (So Wesker makes everyone’s infected +10 health…what a jerk).
■Herbs and Tokens are given to the character assigned to them.
■Resolve all Battles at the same time.

    Damage
The order of damage is broken down into 3 steps

1.Assigned Players and Unassigned Players deal damage to any legal target(s).
2.Any infected that were not defeated deal their damage to their assigned character
3.Any Player (assigned or Unassigned) with left over damage can deal it to any 1 infected.

    Regroup
1.All undefeated infected in play remain assigned to the same character (see killed character rules for exception)
2.As long as 1 character survives the round the game continues
3.If there are no infected remaining in play then the party advances to the next floor.
4.Check Victory Condition: If not then
A.Players discard all cards in play and draw a new hand
B.Go back to Check Floor Status

    Killed Character Rules
    When a character is killed:

1.Kill Characters receive the -20 health penalty.
2.Kill Characters cannot be revived until the party reaches a new floor
3.Infected assigned to the killed Character are now considered Unassigned
4.If all characters are killed on the same floor the game is over.

    Victory Conditions:
The game ends if you complete all 12 floors or if all party member die in the same round.

Wow...just came in to hijack another person's custom thread to advertise your own huh?

In any case, you have obviously put alot of time/effort into this and I'll definitely keep this one in mind next time I'm looking for a change up to my normal game.

I just felt the other 3 play modes were just lacking something...but I didn't know what it was. I guess the decking building process kinda makes the game drag until everyone gets what they need/want. In this game even if you don't have the best cards you can still kill zombies.

But the most important thing is that people can understand what I'm trying to get across so thats why I keep editing and editing. I think this game has so much more potiental than what we can see. I'm currently working on a Game that is like the story line of the original RE. You know with Wesker being a double agent. Having one player in the game be evil or a mole. But I'm still in the brainstorming phase.

I am going to do my first game test tomorrow with 3-4 people so I will review it after we play it a couple times.
