What happens when Naruto ends?

Hey everyone, I would just like to bring attention to the fact that Set28 is covering a lot of ground, anime/manga wise. It covers the entire war, all the way to the Tobi vs Naruto battle. Sure, there are still cards that they can go back and print (ex Jokey Boy, Dan, etc.), but it still covers a huge chunk of Naruto.

So, on a related note, I'd like to get a little discussion going; do you think this game can survive when Naruto manga/anime ends (Kishimoto has stated we're reaching the climax of the series, as evidenced by the appearance of the mega-boss Madara and 10-tails).

On the one hand, I like to think yes. From a competitive stand point, they can just keep making new versions of the characters introduced. Many ninja/jutsu only have 1-2 versions, so there's that as well. But on the other hand, a big thrill of the new set for me has always been seeing new characters/jutsu and how they will be implemented into the CCG. Artwork for cards, at least for Ninjas, is also in pretty short supply. Eventually it would have to be reused, or we get things like Chibi cards or other types of non-standard images.

So, do you think the game will survive just be making cards based on the whole series of Naruto even with no new manga being released? Or is a sequel/spin-off of Naruto (and in turn, to be made into cards) necessary to continue the game?

thats the greatness of block format, even when the series ends everything can be repeated again with out it getting stale. I wouldn't even mind if after the set that covers the last arc, they just restart from the origianl naruto and work our way back up XD but seriously art work is limited, thats the real issue

They should just ban everything and restart the game from PTH, keeping all sets exactly the same. It'd be interesting to see how things turn out.

One potential idea could be to invent characters/jutsu and make them in the CCG. Original art would be a given, since, well, they don't exist. But if they do them right, and just on a limited basis, it could work.

I wish they could go back and revisit the movies. Altogether there's something like 9 movies, which is multiple sets worth of content. Most characters in the movies hat, at most, one copy of them made, and in each movie, there is still probably loads of new clients, jutsu and missions, not to mention artwork, that could be collected. Unfortunately, I don't think it can happen due to licensing mumbo-jumbo.

My beef is that, using more video game resources, revisiting movies, making chibi cards, etc. can keep the game alive for a while, but if it wants to live 5+ more years, I think a more drastic, stable solution needs to be found (ie Kisimoto deciding to continue Naruto with Part 3 or making a spinoff to incorporate into the CCG).

what if after the last set comes out and a rotation period of a few months changes what sets are block legal from all the sets?

well if they stop making sets, the game is considered dead, rather u play it or not. so there is no rotation technically. most will just play the last block format but many will play unlimited because that will become the "official" format

It provides art and a bit of storyline for missions, but for the most part, no new Jutsu besides ones we've already seen in the original naruto series. It could be a nice supplement to the show though if no other spinoff comes to fruition, just so there's some new artwork/cards coming out.

I think this set should be considered a weird bump in the road as far as continuity goes.
They've done it as a cross-promotion kind of thing so the fact that we're seeing Naruto in the final form on certain cards etc shouldn't make us worry.

I'm not even worried about the nerfed-seeming major edos.
I think the next set will return to schedule and we'll get a set centred around the division leaders etc and everyone that sucked will be redone eventually.

The way the story in the manga is going though, with all loose ends tying up and all the antagonists about to be dealt with I think it's fair to say Shippuden will end very soon (within a few months is my guess).

Will that be the end or will we get a new series about the next generation to inherit the will of fire? A series with Naruto as kage and featuring his kid or something?

If Kishi isn't sick of it, I'd say probably.
But if all the antagonists that we've ever known have been dealt with it would feel very different.
