Non Valid, hits both people. It's not broken. Just because you can't play a reinforcement or squad doesn't make it broken. |

shimon is a key card to shimon control.
you know that deck that revolves around shimon. you pick off free ninjas and they never see them again. the deck that gave itself the name off one card, the pluses cuz its wind/fire so you can't carry all those free cards in hand.... wind/fire has pressure, dragon flame, idles, obito... other cool stuff that does relevant things throughout the whole game. don't worry genre, i got yo back. |

Idle Comrades more so than Obito. There is no way to stop a counter mission. None that come to mind anyway.

human path should not be cost, it hurts so much trying to play around him... and the truth is you can't play around him and lose 2 cards a turn for both player's turn, even if its for one cycle.

well since hes a cost your opponent has to have 2 cards in their hand to use him, not much of a consolation but its something.

Both the PTH/Coils and PTH/Coils/Curse metagames involved a wide variety of decks that involved actual decisions to make. Want to go faster? Ninja Academy is gonna dump your hand, and Kunai/Cross-Shaped Shuriken are terrible late game. Want to build up chakra to play a power jutsu control game with Trigram/Vortex? All your chakra generation is going to cost you a card (Tora/Bingo Book) besides AoUR. Want to draw a ton of cards? Great, you can play One Morning/Sakura's Decision and then have your only real good jutsu be Great Breakthrough. Freedori metagame, although filled with mirror matches, required a lot of skill to do well (barring games where one player had an Ino and the other didn't). Some of the greatest matches I've watched and played in involved some of the best players in the game managing resources and outplaying opponents in the face of multiple APW/Inherits/Trigrams. Of course, non-Freedori decks just got steamrollered (brainlessly). Inherit APW Trigram hurr durr I win. Post Freedori nerfings also saw the the rise of a wide variety of decks. Can't name the best deck from that era? Neither can I. DFC, 5 Prong, Fire, Pre-DSB Over9K, Water, Gaara TN-based decks - everything could win. Over9K after DSB got released was pretty oppressive, but similar to Freedori, the mirror match involved making a ton of reads and game state management. Also of note is that Fire/Dogs and NVS were both legitimate contenders to Over9K's throne. NVS in particular was challenging to play, given that if you misplayed, your opponent would drop a Gaara and nuke your entire board in one turn. Chain Lightning before they started printing the broken lightning stuff was one of the most skill-testing decks to play (although part of that was knowing Gaara TN's retarded timings). It played stuff like Shuriken and Rasengan (3 chakra for 1 damage) Everything sort of went to hell after Emerging Alliance (ShizTon lol), but several restrictions/bannings later things sort of stabilized. A deck focused on drawing cards and making oversized teams did win Sannins, but at the expense of having no real way to affect the board besides Concealed Weapon (and Selecting the Strongest). The deck it beat in the finals was basically Chain Lightning on steroids, but even that deck had its downside of not being able to realistically deal with the widespread Puppets short of milling its entire deck. Again, a variety of decks and strategies did well - Fire, Ghost Panic, Over 9K, Animal Rush Dreams was godawfully boring and probably one of the top 5 most brainless decks ever, but I will say the Stream deck had a certain elegance to it in setting up massively high-powered plays. [begin ego trip]Mike C knows what I'm talking about - my favorite play of all time is still intentionally "misplaying" to set the bait for this play in the T8 of Sannins. I teamed up a Sasori TBT with a bug token while he had Shika Unwillingness on the board, inducing him into optimally teaming up a bunch of teams of 2 ninjas each to take me to 9 BRs (as well as leaving Shika by himself). This enabled me to wipe the board by deploying Sasuke FE (turning all his teams into 1 ninjas) into Sasori/Deidara off TBT leaving him with no ninjas and no cards and Mike Alpers going "what the (vulgar term for coitus) just happened?!" in the background.[/end ego trip] Of course, those plays were the exception rather than the rule as everybody drew a ton of cards and made their massively powered plays (SNAKE WAAAAAAAAAAAVES) and blah blah blah ANBU came next and the game progressed into steaming turd status. Maybe I'm just old and cranky, but Naruto is a lot harder when you can't just refill your hand every other turn efficiently. Inherits was one thing, but that was the only card advantage card in the deck. Having a mission lineup of 9-12 cards that at least replace themselves along with 9-12 ninjas that at least replace themselves... ugh. tl;dr: ****ing ANBU. Worst metagame ever. edit: Quote:
Some of these things are not like the others! edit 2: god (what a beaver builds) it, you (everyone has one, and it stinks)s made me actually miss playing Naruto Last edited by JDragon : 01-17-2013 at 08:56 PM. |
