Did you really just say that?

Thank you gentlemen for providing my amusement for the day. Carry on.

Have you spent the last year and 9 months as a silent observer, still here but not saying anything, or did you just get a wild hair?

I could have sworn that the O9K gencon layout was a top 16 of 2 fire decks and 14 O9K variants. If the deck ran the 4 drop Gaara, it was O9K for all I'm concerned. I may be slightly misinformed, but it still does not take away that the game was worse then.
Lets talk about dragon flame? Character specific jutsu vs generic removal jutsus are leagues of difference. The top 16 layout for that gencon involved 4 -5 non O9k decks 4 of which moved on to top 8, 2 of which made the finals.

What you are trying to say is that it is more skillful to play a meta where a missing a drop and a turn 2 jutsu that kills ninja can end the game quite quickly, than playing a meta that requires you have a specific ninja in play with 2-3 jutsu on to 4 so that you can take control of the game. Also if it required so little skill why was it only skilled pilots of the 9k and rouge decks that made top 16 that year why wasn't it Scrub a and scrub be like it is now.

This game as much as I love it has lost itself to Cards that provide free wins and one sided blowouts. And if that's what the current player base loves so be it its not for me I like PLAYING THE GAME.

...Gaara's jutsus were "tutorable" via the 4 drop Gaara, and all of the good ones sniped and did heavy damage or removal for only 2 chakra. Even getting one of those off means you pretty much win. Back then, decks were 40 cards and you ran enough draw missions and such that you would near-guarantee hitting Gaara every t4 as well as near-guarantee fishing out his jutsu for some heavy smashing on turn 4. If you went first, it was pretty ugly.

Dragon Flame isn't even the best jutsu in format right now, it doesn't snipe; costs a lot, and does have that slight downside.

even though it cost a lot. Its still played in a deck that uses Fire, Genre. I want you to build a fire deck that doesn't use dragon flame for the jutsu line up. you have to either pick backstab or subdue.
