While in chakra or other out of play zones, he is indeed a ninja, but it's not being "discarded" as a game term, it's being "discarded" for another reason (paying for a jutsu/effect for example)

When in play, Yahiko is a "ninja" not a "ninja card" so no way of discarding him gets that. Plus, not having valid means his effect is "inactive" which is a term meaning negated (Game Manual. Page 23, under the "Valid" explanation) so since his effect is inactive, it can't be triggered by sacrificing an injured Yahiko child.

I am however only an apprentice, feel free to wait for either Sensei to confirm or correct me.
Ha really?? I've been looking up to u. I thought u were a pro this entire time. Also while we wait. Do u have a utub account??

You do not have to use her effect. Her effect says "you can", implying that it is an optional effect.

A Q&A Apprentice is what I meant. Granted you're wrong to think i'm a pro either, I choke every SJC to date and I'm all anti-conformist against metas so I refuse to run a deck based on one. No matter how good.
Still, i'm obviously good enough that you thought I was a pro

I do have a youtube. I do not use it for really anything. Like at all.

This is all correct.

Yahiko's "If this Ninja card is discarded" only triggers if he is being discarded from your hand, and his "or this Ninja is sacrificed" will not trigger if he is injured.

Sacrifice applys anytime the card is put in play unless a card specifies otherwise
