Determination to protect.

So a buddy of mine built the Determination to Protect/Deidara Yolo/1st Hokage deck. Said he's going to use it for tourneys. My question is, how the heck do I counter this? I can side in all the pakkun's and mission negations I want but there's no guarantee I'll draw into them. Once Zetsu's Army/Determination to protect goes in I literally can't do anything. He'll drop Messengers, abuse Ino/Zetsu/Akatsuchi to draw into another determination even if I negate one. Any advice? Or do I just have to build a deck to counter his completely and lose to everything else.

How so? I can rush like crazy, get 6-8 BR's, Determination comes in, 1st Hokage, Deidara, loop. It wouldn't be a problem if I could just negate and push but I'd have to do it on his turn and with Messengers draw power I can get easily mind transfered or he'll just play another determination.

oh yes, if you play with it. Playing against it is the opposite of what should be called love though. I'm calling it meta for the upcoming tourneys zetsu's army guaranteed it.

There are ways and deck types, but none are fool proof. I keep my secrets however. The best advice I can give you is to run the perm earth deck, it'll be competitive and may win you a tournament.

I see, thanks for letting me know that there are ways around it though. Guess I'll hit the lab and see what I can do differently. I'm not too much of a super competitive guy, I like to win but I still think of this as just for fun. On the other hand playing a deck where you can't do anything isn't fun.

if you are playing for fun tell him to run a different deck! You can pretty much pick any other deck and it'll be way more fun..

A better question would be how not to beat it?

While this variant is original I do not like it.

Beating it is simple, run mission negation. Side deck suigetsu.
There is a suigetsu from set 25 or 26 that removes coins off perms and gives him a pump.

Rush hard and jutsu hard. Hell the deck uses like 4 jutsus,(all with requirements)

If your playing fire, main deck backstab.

Bluff with backstab.

Tofu and temari set 27 are also anti DTP.

Wager. Wager. Wager before they play DTP.

Chances are, if you rush well, you won. If not, side into that suigetsu and really make them regret bringing that deck to any tournament.
