im attacking those who are attacking the players who want to report what they want. what's wrong about writing an article about your local? or getting coverage of your local? or play testing, or enjoying the game once a week? i've topped a few chunin's and an SJC but im not going to be an a-hole and diss others who just want to report what they want. and not to say that you do this kuno, but for others who are like that -- that's not healthy for the game. |

but they won't, because they're smarter than that. The next quote really illustrates that point: Quote:
I'll use this here to talk about why people like MtF better. One of their latest articles was a "Top 10 cards of 2012" spot. They did good research on cards that saw the most play, cards that were literally shaping the meta, and which of said cards were making MORE impact than others. Proper research + important topic = good article. Before that, they did a "Deck Building Tips" article, with steps pretty much every vet uses on deck building. Helps newbie players just starting out to catch up and be better at the game as a whole. SP could actually even do something like this. Literally the only article MtF does that could technically be called "bad" is their monday rants, and that's clearly stated as being for lulz more than anything. Quote:
Locals matter VERY much, but only in attendance, and thats only to promote the game as well as play test "fun" decks (that can turn out devastating) or just goof off with fellow naruto players. I came up with my perm earth deck for that MI SJC when I played it "for fun" at a local. However, as was said above, they have NO impact on the metagame or the real standings of tournies. Their best prize is a dang coin for glob's sake :/ If everyone reported on every local, the GD would literally have about 10-15 new threads a day. I don't get how people are disagreeing here, before this was anyone EVER reporting on/looking forward to local reports? I mean hell, i'll come here every sunday and report my locals if everyone cares that much ![]() Never once did I bash them, not a single time did I say "you're not important unless you top major events", and I ESPECIALLY never called anyone out for not topping. A) because it's a pretty "richard" thing to do and B)My best standing is 33rd at Gencon, that is certainly nothing to brag about. I simply said what should be "reported" on to the entire community would be chunins and higher, because again as said above, locals mean very little for the community as a whole, and as I personally said previousl on these guys articles, a blog about a CCG should report on the biggest/best/most important news for the CCG |

Apart from that, I certainly understand and respect your opinion that what we are covering is not what you (and possibly/probably others) consider of any relevance, and you have a right to that opinion. I still agree more with rockleeac and wish people would promote the heck out of the game, if there were 10-15 reports every week about scrubby locals I would read all of them. In fact, I invite anyone and everyone to start doing so, as I guarantee at least my whole team would read them, and probably many others too. (Allanime, I know you're probably facepalming, rolling your eyes, and trollololing right now ![]() ![]() and I don't mean to troll you or the forums, but I'm still going to put this out there)If the higher up, "good" players want to be an elite few, that's what the card game will become and soon there won't be anyone playing or any more cards being produced because there won't be enough players. The playerbase is dying as it is, and if you want it to grow, you have to encourage scrubby local players (like me) as we keep the game going. I buy 2 boxes every set, sometimes more, and attend every draft, and so do my friends. Every local uses packs as prize support, which again buys more product from Bandai and keeps the game going. You don't have to ever like what we say, do, or produce, but discouraging is bad. (Saying things in a condescending manner, even if not meant to be discouraging or antagonistic, is discouraging to the players, I am sorry.) Slight edit: I do want to say this to Allanime it seems like criticism is being aimed soley at you and it's not. I want to say one thing I appreciate about you regardless of anything else is you always put out your honest opinion and always comment on what we put out there, even if you think it's trash, and you do try to give somewhat constructive criticism, regardless of whether or not I agree with your opinion, because I rarely do haha, I do in fact appreciate you always commenting no matter what. At least you read what we put up, at the very least. In any case, we will keep doing articles, deck profiles, and reports as we see fit and as the community likes. Seeing as the majority of the comments here were positive in nature, we will keep the coming. Thank you for the support guys! Last edited by OC_Powers : 01-08-2013 at 09:11 PM. |

no disrespect to mulltofour because I actually advocated and encouraged their forum post to include descriptions on how to build decks, include perspectives on incoming cards and try to help beginners transition into the game through explanation and i fully supported that.
but mulltofour isn't the only blog out there and for people to compare other players blogs to mulltofour saying that these scrubs shouldn't write articles or post on locals, that's horrible..let these guys report on what they want to report, put their 2 cents in, and opinions will clash but you can't put the guy down for trying. again, not calling out anyone on this but its been thrown out there and implied. there's a whole You--Tube community of Naruto players ranging from deck profiles, meta discussions, trade binders, etc and many people want to play the game. they look forward to these posts on locals, chunin's, sjc's, how to play the game, tournament reports blah blah..people are excited about this kind of stuff and we need to support that idea. instead of bringing people down, why can't we support them? believe me, i looked up to many players prior to attending big events and for some when i met them -- they weren't what I expected them to be. the whole attitude of players have to change if you want this game to go in the right direction, we can't keep dissing on the players who want to report on what they want to. idk, maybe people really don't want this game to grow. at least in the local level. those people who only want to associate with higher level tournaments and players must be living a better life. |

and i'll definitely support if you post local stuff allanime..i understand a lot of people don't care, but there are much more out there who want to hear stories and coverage any way they can. i don't care who it is, im trying to learn as many stories, perspectives, playing styles as possible. only benefits more people to try out new stuff or get people interested in playing.

Even if was just about a local , I enjoyed reading the article and would read more of the nature. We do need more coverage and discussion of our game no matter the level. Unfortunately there will always be **** talkers. This after all the internet... Keep the blog going guys.

Official Statement from Mull to Four:
Hi, while we do enjoy people supporting our blog and voicing their enjoyment for it, we ask that you do not criticize other blogs under the strict regiment of comparing them to Mull to Four. Each blog and its posters are going to have a different approach to how they handle their content, and offer slightly different content. If we held every blog to the same requirement of content, there would be no point in reading different ones, as they'd all be the same. I'm not soap boxing and saying "Don't flame people!", but rather, don't flame them by saying "You're not as good as Mull to Four". Instead, give them input on what you think they could do to make their blog better and more enjoyable to read. That goes for us too. Tell us how much you Didn't like something just as much as how you did like something. Scoop Phase has a crew of folks who enjoy this game, and they're going out of their way to at least offer something to the community. You have to respect them for that at least. |
