Smile MA Chunin Report times DEUX

We have two MA Chunins on back to back days due to snow day postponement and such, so here in this main post I'll describe my day at the day 1 chunin, and tomorrow (or later) i will describe the other chunin.

I ran (Gen)Revitalize Mono Earth aka "Welcome to Earf"...

RD 1 - Vs. Cam (MonoWater Chakra Control / State 2)
In game 1, he didn't curve too well and a few decisive blocks allowed me to stall to the late game. I don't think he played one mission this game, and stumbled on underdropping all game. So, late game when he had hardly any cards in hand I just set up the Tree Jutsu spam and it was GG.

In game 2, he drew much better and ended up going broke on t6 with Jirobo S2, Kisame Shark Form, Sasuke (Susano'o). Deal or No Deal (Thomas Cao??????//.hack)??? I didn't scoop though because I ended up seeing that his hand had nothing and even though he would've definitely won due to decking me out or just overpowering me, I swung out and cheaply won with random Tree Spam again.

RD 2 - Vs. Teh Nose Path (Alex Blandin) using MY DECK with 3 card diff.
He mulled to four both games and ended up trying the "hail mary" with Shihos / Student and Senseis but drew complete garbage. He also runs a tech card that no one really runs (I'll keep it a secret) but he whiffed when he used it and scooped up game 1 quickly after missing with it. In game 2, I rushed him out when he dropped junky mental guys (I had more mental than him and physical beats) -- t3 I dropped Jordan "The Sparkle" Markle's tech Sakura 3 drop TP4 and swung out three teams, Mind Transfering his chump blocker with Sakura's 3 Mental... GG

RD 3 - Vs. Griffin (MonoEarth Mental w/ Nara Clan & InoShikaCho)

Extremely annoying (but awesome and unique) deck which used Nara Clan s24 to pump up mental with Shika's mommy, daddy, baby's momma, baby's momma's momma, etc. In both games he had teams of around 13 mental that performed mental beatdown only; this was rather troublesome... especially after he would squad Ino/Shika Cho and have a single ninja with 8 mental (Mind Transfer Jutsu is fair with this...)... I luckily stalled out and got lucky late game g1 throwing out a random tree jutsu to see if he had anything - he didn't - and I ended the game a turn later.

Game 2 was close and went to time. He was crushing me all game and drew godly - his main misplay was not using Ino Childhood's milling effect at least 3 times when he could have over a span of several turns (he didn't on purpose because he is NOT running a Revitalize deck and was milling over key cards which he didn't want to lose... go figure). On my last turn I was pretty sure I had the game lost, but I swung out with the "hail mary" and tree jutsu'd to see if he had anything -- he ACTUALLY DIDN'T and I couldn't believe it. He screwed himself over by Sakura Swapping his hand away and drawing into nothing on the turn(s) prior. This was my worst matchup and the hardest all day. Had he used Ino more often, he probably would've had me.

RD 4 - Vs. Saul zbkillaz (Hmm... "Wombo Combo.dec")

He refuses to tie LOL because yeah... but I didn't want to play him. Let's just say that mission negation (as a whole) won me this match. Using my Eagle for filtering and other cards, I kept my negation in hand at all times and prevented him from doing his "Wombo Combo". His deck runs many elements, so he was impeded during certain turns due to lack of handcost... but my mission negation and jutsu onslaught ended him before he could go off.

RD 5 - Vs. Ryan Severin (Using "Gen(re)jutsu OTK"?????)

I built the deck he's using while I was watching WWE Monday Night raw earlier this week and I didn't expect the deck to do as well as it did; but it has a broken 0 drop lineup and has a power move in the late game to really toss opponents right into the PINARD dumpsters. We tie because that's what Team NH does... but I can't believe he did so well with such a deck.

4-0-1

TOP 8:
1. Me (Genrevitalize)
2. Fonz from NY (Fire/Lightning I'm pretty sure)
3. Ryan (Genrejutsu mardOTK)
4. Teh Nose Path (Genrevitalize)
5. Jesse Freeman (JI Toolbox)
6. Saul ("Wombo Combo")
7. NY Player I believe (??)
8. OneWingedAngel (Earth/Wind/Void)

Top 8 - Vs. OneWingedAngel (Earth/Wind/Void)
Let's just say... don't side Shimon in against a deck that can THEN (in return) side in their Idle Comrades, Obito, etc... so when I play MY Shimon, they abuse their Idle Comrades and stuff using my own ninja against me. Also, when you are mind transfered and they drop a Naraka Path the next turn to sac the guy they MTJ'd only to then play Icon (with more Pains in the discard)... you scoop.

Curse of the first seed. But, he did have a good deck. Ryan got revenge the next round by TAKING HIM OUT. I believe I ended up with 5th place.

1st and 2nd were Saul and Ryan (unsure who made 1st and 2nd respectively)...

Pros:
NY players coming up to play in the chunin. Fun, diverse meta as well!

Cons:
Dalgena (mardOTK) was not there
EDIT: Mulling way more than usual today, and not opening one game up with 0 Shika 1 Ino on back-to-back first two turns... Wth???

Not even worth the report.

Top 8 consisted of Revitalize, JI, "Wombo Combo" Saul deck again, "American Idle.dec"

"American Idle" using Idle Comrades won 1st place. I, of course, made 8th place because I'm bad and was not running Jordan Markle's version of Revitalize... true story

What is that "Wombo Combo" you're talking about? Something that must be kept secret? X) And how many players were there?

That is because of the snow. It was supposed to snow like it is TODAY yesterday; which deterred many from showing up. Today should be ugh due to the weather, but we'll be trekking in it.

We will get better attendance for the 2nd Qrtr chunins.
