Im going to repost what i said in the set 27 preview thread and expand more:

Okay, so i've taken another look at this set and feel i should come back and say a few things:

first off; going card to card this set actually isnt quite to bad. from a super rare standpoint though the set is imho still terribad. with that said i want to say the following: we have lost production on tins and TP sets for increased quality on cards in major sets. i figured i should go look at set 23 in comparison to this set as they stood in the same place during their introduction to block. set 23 has maybe 10 playable cards that actually see or have(or had) seen play. i think this set will see more but set 23 was followed by a TP set and a wave of tins and had its own starter decks. This set only has starter decks supporting it. So i look at what we have, the quality of cards in the set and thats where i now still say, this set isnt very good thus far. i hope to see this opinion change as we see more previews but as it stands right now this set has earth & fire to thank as its only saving grace.

second; from what i understand sales arnt the best thats why we have concentrated focus. from personal experience as being a TO and working in a hobby store i can say when you buy from a new set, you usually want to buy a box or case or blah because you want to get all the cards. I feel at this point, customers will buy a few packs going for the ocmmons, uncommons and rares because buying at a box level seems silly when you a) wont pull your value and b) why throw away that much more money when u can buy pack at a time getting the rares and lower rarity. im not saying people wont buy boxes or cases, heck ive ordered my case already but ive asked the few venues i attend and each of them has said there is little to no desire for this set on the case or preorder level. could be just my area, who knows. if they want a set that sells, this set is IMHO not that set from this current standpoint. i think they will be disappointed in this sets sales and the good run of the last two sets will seem like a fluke when bandai is back to its old tricks of bad-mediocre sets.

there are a few notable cards in this set but i gotta say people preorder for sets like this a lot earlier then a week or two before the sets released. showing us the cards they did within the first two weeks was not a help to the preorders. bad cards shown first. at least show us some good supers but no. i agree this set will change the meta but will it offer the diversity that the game needs, NOPE. we are at the middle of having last few sets and to look forward to another 3 more sets before next rotation and at this point diversity should be coming out of every card we see. instead its mono element focused instead of a balanced multielement. but who are we to say anything, afterall we only buy and play the cards.

its a business and if we expect this cardgame to keep going we got to support it as a cardgame community in general but lets be real here, would you rather buy a set like invasion with 10 good cards or a set like kage summit with 95% good cards. id throw my money at set 25 over 23 any day. wouldnt you?

i realize not everyone will agree with me, i dont expect everyone too but at the end of the day, im a guy who buys from this company and why do i want to throw my money at something that isnt half as good as the last product i threw money at. its like paying for a big mac but not getting any lettuce the middle bun and only 1 meat patty whereas the last time you payed and got a bigmac, you got it all. as a customer you'd be pretty upset you didnt get what you paid for, no?
