Newbie Question

Hi, I've been interested in trying the game but there isn't any stores locally that host tournaments according to the store locator (I live in Tampa, FL btw). Was wondering if anyone knew of a store or way to play online that still counts because I'd really really like to play but don't see the point if I can't get in on the tournament aspect.
