n1514 (The Sage) and m868 (Nice Guy Pose)

If a player has n1514 in play and plays m868, can he then use n1514's effect to remove a counter placed on 1 of their ninjas. I was under the impression that there was a specific distinction between counters and coins, and since n1514's effect removes "coins" and not "counters" this combo could not be done. If someone could please clarify that would be great.

Edit: found answer. Coins and counters are the same.
