If tobi is not izuna, then madara was running around/pulling strings longer than previously let on.

I think this because he has corrected a few things said about madara and izuna, for example he said that izuna gave up his eyes willingly whilst everybody else was under the impression that madara stole them.

Also there is no story as to how izuna met his end, also how could madara plot with obito who is from a different generation and know his name when he said he died not long after his fight with hashirama if i do remember correctly.

On top of that how did obito/tobi get rinnegan to implant in Nagato, seeing as from what we know, madara was the only one to unlock rinnegan(barring the sage, as we dont even know much about him)

IM calling it now, Zetsu is the real obito, fused with Hashirama cells.

New idea:

The only way to save Obito's dying body was to turn his soul into a zetsu and use his crushed half to make a quick zetsu body. kept Obito's corpse and eye (not like he really needed it, he only had it for a day), taking time perfecting it for Izuna. Izuna is the real one who helped unleash nine tails, claiming to be madara. Helped Itachi kill the clan for the clan turning against his brother. like v for vendetta, the name madara became a mask to remind everyone of the betrayals against him.

also would explain how obito can keep an eye on kakashi without being in the village, and Tobi knowing "obito" didnt return to the village because of rins death.

I threw that idea out there when Zetsu was first revealed, and brought it back up when Kamui was explained. Can't remember who shot it down but maybe Kishi is smarter than we think and this is the case.

I really gotta say, kishi diesnt deserve our benifit of the doubt. He deserves none of our optimism. He deserves no hopeful praise.

Most likely tobi is obito because he wanted to shock his readers. He survivednot because of forshadowed planning involving zetsu or anything like that. No subplot with tobirama or izuna. He knows madara because, as he proved with 599, he doesnt give a crap about timelines he created.

I cant stop the theories and wont try. But i think we just need to accept that this situation really is as bad as it looks. I really want kishi to prove me wrong, but i dont see that happening.

God its like the first 400 or so chapters were written by someone else because this is such a dramatic drop in quality. At least thats what i thought until i remembered george lucas. Clearly there exists a disease that causes good writers to get worse over long periods of time.

But c'mon, naruto has been a loved manga since it pretty much started. i dont care what crazy dumb twist kishi is going to pull, personally im pro tobito but i like thinking of crazy possibilities. you guys really just put it in my head "OBITO wouldnt start a war for rin.." if he was that mad at kakashi then he would have tried to kill kakashi instead of fighting minato. thats really the only thing thats bothering me XP

Naw man, totally with you. Until I see him do it, i'm not "hoping" for jack s*yay*t with this crap. If possible, the least he could do is do a double reveal and show us who Sasuke is meeting while also revealing how Madara and Obito know each other.
That probably won't happen either.

To me the whole point of this series which I loved so much is that it was different from alot of anime/manga the story was 90% of why I liked it. In my eyes there weren't any huge plotholes in it, again to me please no debate on this subject so everything was solid but with this whole Tobito thing, Kishi just nuked to the timeline hit with a wrecking ball and put a flower on top then crapped on it.

I have no problems with him WANTING to make him Obito but it seems like he came up with this on the fly not. Considering all the backstories he already had in place he could have chose from any of the other fanfic/theories other than Obito=Tobi one. He could have easily explained plenty other without destroying Timeline.

IMO the Tobito theory was the worst of all the fanfic then anything that dealt with time travel but other than those I would've been alright with making Tobi nearly anyone else and I would've been fine with it but like I said before I'm strongly considering not reading anymore.

and tobito being obito wasnt bad until the whole moon eye plan, and him knowing madara. thats what really kags timelines. but if its revealed that its not obito's original plan and somehow orochimaru ties into this with how they know eachother, then obito being tobi is pretty cool. he's been lying this whole time, and he didnt start the war for rin, he just didnt come back. c'mon how would you feel, not only did the village not look for him, his family didnt give a ****, why go back..

He doesn't, however it probably is implied his family wouldn't look for him when Kakashi reports his death to the village. Literally everyone thought he was dead
And i'm sorry, but like it was said above, I hate it being Obito because that is basically him saying "Timeline? F*yay*K TIMELINES! Seriously, i'm just sitting here seething as I wait to see how he tries and makes Madara + Obito connect.
Then I wanna know how Obito gave Nagato Rinnegan (IE was alive when the sannin was like early twenties) Oh, and how after being smashed like a boulder in roughly 1 year he now has mastered mangekyou to the point he can kamui dimmensions in his fight with the forth
