I'm a little confused at how Tobi can use Kamui. I thought to unlock the MS you needed to see your closest friend die. Kakashi is still alive so Obito couldn't have it, Unless he killed Rin which in the weird world of Naruto its possible... i guess

That was a "lie" that itachi told sasuke. It has never been proven, or backed up with data that you actually have to watch your friend die. itachi had mangekyou before he killed the uchiha. We don't know when he got it specifically, so we don't know how. Same goes for Izuna and Madara.

I thought itachi got it from seeing his friend kill himself and madara said he killed his bestfriend when he explained taking his brothers eyes.

Itachi told sasuke how to get power. Sasuke didbt want to gain power by following his ways. Sasuke decided to get stronger his own way his "other way" had nothing to do with mangekyou, simply his desire to not do what his brother said.
