2 Part Question About Team Powers and Jutsu Resolution

Alright, this situation came up yesterday between two players at my local, and it got kind of heated because no one could agree on how it should have played out. I'll just lay out the scenario, and then ask my questions.

Player 1 had as the head ninja of one of his teams, and as the first back ninja, and as the second back ninja. He attacked his opponent.

Player 2 had in play, and blocked Player 1's team with him.

Player 1 activated , with as the user, targeting Player 2's . Player 2 responded with , targeting Player 1's . Player 1 passed and Player 2 passed, so the chain resolved.

Here's the questions.

1) is removed from play. Where does go? Chakra with a fizzled effect? Or discard pile because it didn't resolve properly?

2) Now that is removed from play, the team power of Player 1's and is 5, and Player 2's is 6. Player 2 argued that Player 1's should take 1 damage, stating that it was now considered the "head ninja" since the real head ninja was gone and was the first back ninja, but Player 1 argued that both of his ninjas are "back" ninjas, since was the head ninja. Thus, since the difference in team power was only 1, Player 1 said his "back ninjas" don't take damage, even though the head ninja is not currently in play. So... who was right?

I'm sorry this was so drawn out. But I wanted to make sure you had all of the information we had, so I could see if our decisions turned out to be the same. Thanks for the help!!

1) The Jutsu fails, and goes to its owner's Chakra.

2) No. All Ninjas sent out to Battle maintain whatever battle position they have, until they return to the village. Player 1 is correct in this instance.

Also, just adding on here, but Naruto (Sage Mode) is NOT returned to play. Anytime a Reinforcement or Squad leaves play, it is removed from the game and does not return.
