allanime's Awesome Chunin Report (1/14/12)

Running against the meta with my -1/-1 and/or General fire/water, i honestly didn't expect to top (yet somehow i magically did) so here's what went down.

Round 1. James (local player) running mill.

Game 1: Starts off weak, missing his 1 and 2 drops while i'm steady swinging. He picks up mid-game and things "look bad" when he drops susano'o, so i rack up a good 24 BR's while he has only susano'o on the field before i reinforce into state 2, force susano'o out, and use classic Chidori/EotS combo for GG

Game 2: He snags WoF and drops Kiba, but then misses everything. Eventually he drops Obito on turn 3 (mills 5) and has obito play Dragon flames for another 5. To bad though next turn i play Clash, which gets me some chakra, to embrace Obito. Next turn state 2 again, make sure his 1 ninja cant go out and swing for game.

Round 2: Kai running this semi-nilla/good combo deck?
Game 1: We go back and forth back and forth like a good naruto match should, until he finally drops a mind transfer, which takes one of my chumpers using Embrace, and he gets the last 4BRs

Game 2: we get called on time by my turn 1 so i try and go for a draw, but after the 2 turns he gets the game by BR count: 3-2

*Break for lunch, where i get angry at pizza hut, turn subway unhealthy, and scored some sweet deals trade-wise*

Round 3: John (I think?) Running a lightning build.
Game 1: I get stomped flat. Hitting no drops till turn 3.
Game 2: I put up a decent fight, but it's not enough to face down Sakura and her Lariat plus all dat recycle.

Round 4: ????? (I cant remember his name unfortunately) running what seems like an Earth/Water build.
Game 1: I slide easily into a nice curve, and eventually hit Chidori/EotS repeatedly. From there it's just a short climb to 10BR's
Game 2: I wreck well with pumping (Sasuke Childhood using TP3 chidori to OV a team of 3 ninjas) and hit both my Last Words + Hidan. Needless to say i eventually wittle the field and net victory

Top 8 announcements come in and woe is me, i'm facing Mike "Hollow" Washington. I grit my teeth and set up though.
Versus Mike W.
Game 1: Things look good, i managed to get a good 8BR's before he late games like a champ and stomps out my field. Him winning 90% of my missions didn't help either.
Game 2: Noooot so lucky here. I managae to hold off but once he drops that Kisame, and i cant make chakra, not to mention i have no hand? K-O!

Epilogue.
I collect my 6 packs, and pull out a 4th Brokage (Needing 1 more now for my next deck idea.) Not to mention i scored some decent TP4 pulls. Plus, traded my set 23 mat to James for a 5th hokage supremacy + couple rares for the future mental/female build

Pros:

• Christain ACTUALLY attends his first Chunin. I wish my Earth build he was running had been better, or that we had Topped together
• Christain nets a foil Sakuras Decision AND Sakura [ICDI]
• Someone pulls an Ino AA and we all go
• I topped so in essence I spent 10 bucks on 8 packs, a mat, and some sweet memories. Not to mention 4th Brokage.
• "The Fat Kid" - a sammich from Subway of my own creation. Basically it's a "Spicy Italian" sub with extra pepperoni, 2 servings of Bacon, and Pepperjack Cheese. Toasted.

Cons:

• Kinda wish i was more prepared. Maybe I should have taken my chances with Earth.
• Those Pizza Hut *******s. Wanting to charge a 3 buck delivary fee just to cross the street.
• I never even got to really "use" my -1/-1 theme. I mostly wrecked with good jutsus and pumping.
• My foils from TP4 were Orochi, Eagle, and Formidable team
• Tony (Sixth Prong) Teasing me by making me think he has been converted to glorious Bronydom. YOU WILL JOIN THE HERD MAN!

All in all, not to shabby.

Cool story bro. Sorry I 2-0'd Christian the last round to get 2nd in Swiss instead of drawing, but I knew I wanted to prolong playing Hollow again by getting 2nd to his 1st.

nah it's cool. I mean, drawing meant gambling on ither of you topping (if i understand the points thing right) so i'd rather you cement topping rather then risk it.
Next time he'll have his void deck fleshed out (hopefully) and i'll be running sage mode beatdown. See ya then

Speaking of next time, do you plan on going to the next Michigan Chunin even if it's on the other side of the state or are you just going to wait for our 1st Quarter Chunin?

From now on i plan to attend any and all MI naruto stuff going on, poisoned or not. When is the next event?

most our regulars had *blech* work and such, and very few traveled to our little common hobby shop. Sad turnout indeed. I think it was about 13 people?
