So, here's a thought. What if, and this is a big IF, "Tobi" is really....the Second Hokage? "Tobirama Senju" is his name, he was a master of space/time ninjutsu, he created the Edo Tensei...
For all we know, he could have still been alive during the 3rd's reign. Just in hiding. Maybe he had a complex against his older brother, who was always seen as the hero. He could have taken the REAL Madara's eyes and spent the years mastering them. Then he got Kabuto to help with the Edo Tensei because he never took it as far. He could have created a clone or some other way to "resurrect" him in case his soul was ever called upon by the technique. And the black hair could be a disguise. So he would spend years mastering the Sharingan of the most powerful Uchiha warrior of their time, created a technique that would be the firestarter of the whole war, and either !) Come out as himself and become the "hero", showing once and for all he is the best Senju, or B) Seriously want this "Moon's Eye Plan" to kick in, to finally bring a warped peace to the ninja world.

Like I said, he could have had a special jutsu cast on someone else. So when HIS soul would be targeted, it would bring back a clone, so it wouldn't affect him directly. He could be a clever lad.

Or this whole idea could be entirely wrong. But at least it made more sense than "It's Obito, because Sharingan!"

This isn't a logical reason. Just because Tobi only reveals one of his eyes never implied that he didn't Have both, which he proved later that he did.

think about that for a second. Itachi and Sasuke have 2 completely different jutsus in their right and left mangekyou Sharingan. Why would Obito have had two similar jutsu? And who says tobi's little dimension is the same place Kakashi teleports things to? Did you see Deidara's arm or a nail on the floor next to Sasuke and Karin?

Which close friend or relative did Obito witness the death of just before the rocks fell? Who's to say the intangible ability comes from a mangekyou technique? We've never seen Tobi using anything other than a normal Sharingan.

How did orochimaru bring him back then? That wasn't a clone that turned back into dirt and the sound Genin when the third sealed him.
