If you play water/wind and Third Kazekage is the user of the new Snake Sword instead of those ninjas going to hand they would go to Battle Reward area and Third Kazekage has Mastery. That's how I figured it

The Third KazeKage's effect is optional so only one ninja would hit the battle rewards so you'd get three then if you pull it off the second time then you'd have 6.

No not one ninja would be hit, read the card. " When an opponents Ninja would be moved to their hand by an effect, you can move it to your Battle Reward area, face down instead. Its the same thing if you were to use Hydro Pump with Third Kazekage same thing. Yes Third Kazekage's effect is optional but who in their right minds would not use his effect to gain BR's.

Can being the key word on the card that makes the active part of the effect optional and therefore once per turn.

Ps. I'd never use it Snake sword has far too heavy a water cost for me to be paying hand cost on wind ninja especially if I planned on mastering it.

Ok yes that's true on your part, but he would get 3 BR's from the ninjas that were supposed to go to hand instead and 2 BR's for not being opposed in the showdown so technically that's 5 BR's from just Third Kazekage alone. And I do apologize on my part for not reading the "can" part.
