Advice for a new player?

Hi, everyone. I picked up a few older packs on a whim yesterday on my lunch break. I found them in a $.99 box at Target and figured "Why not?". As a fan of the series, it seemed like a good idea.

I'm wondering what advice might be out there for a new guy. What kind of deck designs are working right now? What are the "must have" cards? Even though I've played a couple of ccg's in my time, this one seems to be one of the most solid. I'm hoping to learn the game and meet other players whom I can talk with. Thanks in advance for your time and consideration.

Regards,
-Shaun

I would suggest you go to organized play and search your city to see if there is a card store near you that has tournaments.

Good idea! Unfortunately, most of them are in the far side of the city (while I'm stuck in the burbs). Maybe I can get lucky and head down that way once or twice. Thanks for the tip.

I would suggest you do what everyone has been doing.

Throw the cards away, and go play Magic the Gathering.

Deva: I sold my 360 because I didn't care about anything available for it.

Psycho: I would much rather stick to collecting Naruto, even if there are no players local.

I want to thank both of you for your input, even if it was less than helpful. I appreciate your time.

Right now, the game is going down hill. You may end wasting a lot of money, so invest at your own risk.

If you want a cheap way to get in, buy a starter deck and a couple packs of Set 20 and 21. Those will get you started pretty quick.

Best advice anyone is ever going to give you:

This game is full of trolls. Dont listen to them. Do what you want to do with this game and you will enjoy it alot better than anyone else

Take a look at the DragonBall CCG. Bandai can cut Naruto in an instant with no warning. No Response. And no MERCY.
