I figured I would share with you a fan fic im working on for another forum's contest, this one takes place after the series ends, and the characters have lived for many years in peace, as said, its my work from another forum so I take full credit, please read and comment and i hope you enjoy it

Chapter One "New Genin"

The sun rose sleepily into the sky above the village hidden in the leaves as several figures stood in the Hokage's chambers. A tall man entered, followed quickly by his four legged companion, and shut the door quickly behind him. The lights shut on and the figures in the room let their eyes adapt before they started to speak. The tall man whom had entered with his ninja dog looked toward the blond haired man sitting behind the Hokage desk and finally said, "what did you want Naruto, I have to get ready to initiate my new Genin squad." The pink haired woman who had been silently standing behind the Hokage filled with rage and started to yell but was quickly subdued by the other man standing in the room's shadow. Naruto had waited for the situation to calm down before he stood and handed Kiba the file on the members of his squad. Kiba opened it up, and his eyes widened dramatically. "Kiba, you see why I called you in now," Naruto asked with a triumphant smile. Kiba's reply got more and more strained, "I see, but why put your daughter and the unborn son of the Nara clan in the same squad, are you aware of the risks?!?" The man who had subdued the pink haired woman, with his shadow, stood up from leaning on the wall and said aloud, "It was a mutual agreement from the Hokage and the Nara clan; we figured it better that you and Akamaru should be their Jonin as it would provide more than enough to keep them safe." Kiba's confident sneer seemed to fade as he let out a sigh. "Kiba, we have faith in you, otherwise, you wouldn't be in this position," replied the young woman with pink hair. Kiba nodded and replied, "Thanks Sakura, I better go, Hinata and Neji are probably waiting on me to help plan out the situation for the new Genin."*
Two white eyed shinobi stood outside the Leaf Academy as Kiba and Akamaru ran up and stopped both panting with the run from the Hokage's office. "Sorry I'm late, Hinata, Neji. I got held up at Naruto's office," Kiba said as he looked up to see Hinata blushing and Neji stifling a laugh. Kiba stood up straight and said, "We don't have long, the Genin will start to arrive soon, and we don't need to let them know who their Jonin are just yet." Neji nodded and replied, "it would be better that way, and to make sure they are aware of the hints that they have had." Hinata nodded in agreement and led the way to the workroom.
The students gathered in their classes to see who had gotten the promotion to Genin, and would start their life as a shinobi of the hidden leaf. The young students' sensei in charge of the group entered the class from the hall way and announced, "I will now announce the nine students who advanced and their squad designations. Squad 15's Jonin is Kiba Inuzuka, Squad 15 consists of Souta Yamanka, Megumi Uzamaki, and Hibiki Nara." He paused as the group looked at the ragtag bunch and snickered and talked amongst themselves. Suddenly the room got quiet as Kiba entered the room with his large companion and said, "Squad 15, I am your new sensei, come with me this way." He waved them over and escorted them out into the hallway where they noticed two other Jonin standing. Kiba quickly pulled their attention as he stomped his foot down and told them "Squad 15, you should get acquainted, tomorrow we have our first training exercise. It's at the training ground at 0700. I'll meet you there tomorrow, congrats on getting this far." The Jonin closest to the door entered as the three nodded and headed out the door, Hibiki sneaking peaks back and the other two thinking.
"Squad 16's Jonin is Hinata Hyuga, Squad 16 will consist of Kazuki Aburame, Hiraku Hatake and Tomomi Hyuga," he continued after the last squad had left. As if on queue, A tall young woman entered and spoke quickly "Squad 16, follow me please," she waved them outside and turned around telling them "Squad 16, you should get acquainted, tomorrow we have our first training exercise. It's at the training ground at 0700. I'll be waiting for you there tomorrow, congrats on your success so far." They nodded and left out the door as Hinata turned to Kiba and smiled.
Following the same routine, he announced "Squad 17's Jonin is Neji Hyuga; Squad 17's members are Hiroto Inuzuka, Kenshin Hatake, and Moriko Nara." Neji entered glancing over the crowd and finally spoke up, "all the members of my squad come this way." He walked outside and told them, "Congrats, I will meet you all outside the leaf hospital tomorrow at 0700 for your first training exercise. You are all dismissed for the day." He let them walk out and then left for the Hyuga complex.
Hinata and Kiba walked to the training grounds as Kiba asked, "Do you think your squad will be okay?" Hinata put her finger on his lips and smiled replying, "They will be okay, plus Ino will be standing by for assistance." Kiba nodded then with almost a sigh replied, "Okay, but we will be on communication the whole time, we don't want people to get hurt." Akamaru let out a bark as Hinata bent down to pet him. Kiba smiled and asked, "Have you figured out what you are going to get your squad if they pass?" Hinata looked down and replied embarrassed, "no, should I have, I mean, I can if I had too." Kiba laughed and replied, "You didn't have to, but I'm going to give each member of my squad one of the ninja dogs from our clan, as a gift for becoming Genin under my leadership." She looked at him surprised and finally replied, "you seem to enjoy your role." He kissed her and looked toward the Hokage Rock saying, "I really don't have a choice. Let’s go home, we need to congratulate Hiroto"
It was the calm before the storm as Hibiki sat down at the main clearing of the training ground. He casually glanced around and began to eat his breakfast he had packed. He finished the food and let out a yawn as the sun had just started to come over the horizon where Souta and Megumi had just arrived. His hand instinctively ran toward the blade he kept sheathed on his back but he relaxed as they approached. He acknowledged his teammates with a nod and looked off toward the entrance to see Tomomi, Hiraku, and Kazuki enter with Hinata and Kiba. Hibiki took a quick glance at their gear and stiffened.*


Kiba waved his squad and explained, "Jonin must first give a secondary review of the Genin, if you don't give a successful performance, I can send you right back to the academy, for your review, you three will engage the other squad as if in true combat for the village. You will wait for them to position themselves in the forest and give the ready, at which point you will be on defense." Kiba gave a grin and nodded to Hinata. Hinata turned and nodded to her team which fled to the forest.
Hibiki turned and told them, "get in a triangle formation until they reveal themselves, we get flanked and it's over." Souta nodded and Megumi replied with a smile, "Got it!" They got in a triangle formation with Hibiki in front, Megumi on his left and Souta on his right. Hibiki spun his blade to its ready position; Megumi readied a kunai and looked around, Souta stood defensively with dual kunai.
Hiraku lead the squad forward and turned them to surround the three man squad. He readied his shuriken and set down ready to throw them at Hibiki. Tomomi looked at him and nodded, as Kazuki readied a trap in the tree lines. Hiraku let the shuriken fly at the three, then moved to another spot at the tree line.
Megumi and Souta spun out of their formation throwing their kunai into the tree line in return as Hibiki knocked the shuriken out of the air with his blade. a kunai flew at Megumi but before it could reach its intended target, Hibiki had stepped in front of her and swung to deflect the blade but the blade swung back as the string it was attached to pulled it back.
Hibiki's eyes widened in surprise as he started his hand signs. His shadow extended to the blade and the shadow on the string darkened. The shadow stopped it's march forward as it connected to Kazuki's shadow and he lost control of his body.

Hibiki let out a sly grin when he confirmed the success of his technique. He moved towards the forest as Kazuki unwillingly moved toward Hibiki. Megumi and Souta watched briefly before rushing that way. Souta turned to Megumi and said, "Watch my body. I can use my clans technique to set up an ambush for them." Megumi stood firm and then nodded.

Hiraku rolled to dodge the kunai Megumi had thrown into the tree line, and let out a sigh of relief when he no longer had the attention of the rival squad. He jumped as Tomomi landed behind him and told him, "They captured Kazuki, we have to get him back or we don't stand a chance." Hiraku just looked at her, then looked into the forest where he saw Kazuki returning.

Megumi smiled with victory while maintaining the genjutsu that shrouded her and Souta's body. Hibiki sat low in the tree line, outside the genjutsu, ready to sprint to the forest line by the other squad. Megumi let out a giggle as the other squad took the bait, and their plan fell into place.

Souta let out a sigh, the sign for Hibiki to move, and waited for the response from Kazuki's fellow teammates. Hiraku looked at him suspiciously and asked him, "how did you escape?" Souta smiled as he had predicted the question already and replied, "Megumi didn't predict a smoke pellet to cover an escape. I dropped it as she moved to tie me up." Hiraku watched him then with acceptance, nodded. Tomomi watched the two carefully, and failed to notice Hibiki land right behind her. He wrapped a cloth around his hand and covered her mouth. He held her until she fell limp in his arms and set her down. Souta nodded and Hibiki used his clan's technique to capture the two others, giving Souta time to release his jutsu.

Three puffs of smoke appeared in from of the four as Megumi, Souta, and Akamaru walked to the group. Kiba was the first figure to step out of the smoke, followed by Hinata, and finally Ino who smiled at Souta then leaned down to help Tomomi. Kiba shook his head with a smile and spoke loudly to the trainees, "Congrats, you pass with flying colors, I am impressed, meet me tommarrow, i will have something for each of you, for now, get some rest, you will need it for your first day as Genin of the Hidden Leaf Village!" The three looked at each other then their sensei, and in unision replied, "Yes sir, Kiba-Sensei." Hinata smiled at her defeated squad, she knew they wouldn't win, but she wanted to see how they worked as a team. She walked over to them and told them, "You all did great, as a reward, how does dinner sound?" Hiraku and Kazumi looked at each other as Tomomi looked at her and asked, "Aunt Hinata, is it ok with dad?" Hinata helped Ino set her up and replied, "we discussed it last night, besides, you need to regain your energy." Ino chimed in, "and with the poison he used, you could use the extra food."*

Hinata looked at her surprised, "poison?" Ino nodded, "it was a carefully made poison, no long term damage but enough to put her out of the fight, the thing is, it had to be inhaled and it doesn't have good range so he was lucky to get that close, she wasn't aware he was there, or he couldn't have gotten that close." Hinata looked down then back at Ino and told her, "thank you for helping us for the training, and thank you for helping Tomomi." Ino smiled and replied, "it's my job as a medical ninja, if your not busy, sometime soon you should come and hang out."
