Shonen Jump Championship: Florida

Hey Guys,

Alright here is the info that I have for you guys so far. As some of you know we are currently in the process of moving our Kissimmee location into a bigger store that is about 5 minutes away from our old location. We're currently approximating that the new venue will able to hold about 150 people no problem. As such, we're very excited about the Shonen Jump tournament.

The current date we have for the event is July 17th-18th and our new store is located at the following address:

Coliseum of Comics Kissimmee
3159 W Vine St
Kissimmee, FL 34741

Registration will start at 10:00am and run till 11:45am. The tournament will start at 12:00pm so arrive early and promptly. Decklists WILL be required for tournament, so make sure you arrive early enough to have one filled out. Entry will be $10. The tournament will follow the Block Format rules, along with the required Rogue card list as well. And for those wondering our Bandai rep will be Alex Bykov.

Please be aware the new Ban/Rogue will be in effect for this event. Also, all the cards (excluding reprints that are already Block legal) from the new Tournament/Chibi Pack will NOT be legal for this event.

Tournament Prizing:
1st Place - Shonen Jump Championship Trophy, Kage pin, Sony Play Station 3 (120GB), Sony PSP 3000, Naruto CCG booster box, Naruto CCG game mat, Chibi promo card set from GenCon 2009
2nd Place - Jonin pin, 32GB IPod Touch, Naruto CCG booster box, Naruto CCG game mat, Chibi promo card set from GenCon 2009
3rd-4th Place - Chunin pin, Sony PSP 3000, Naruto CCG booster box, Naruto CCG game mat, Chibi promo card set from GenCon 2009
5th-8th Place - Naruto CCG booster box, Naruto CCG game mat, Chibi promo card set from GenCon 2009
9th-16th Place - 12 Naruto CCG booster packs, Chibi promo card set from GenCon 2009
17th-32nd Place - 6 Naruto CCG booster packs
33rd-64th Place - 3 Naruto CCG booster packs

One Kishimoto autographed 4th Shonen Jump Promo Card will be given away on Saturday as a raffle prize at each Tournament. One raffle ticket per person (you do not have to play to enter), some form of photo ID is required (parent or legal guardian for underage entrants will be required if you don't have some form of photo ID), must be present to win. Random door prizes will also be available.

Some prize items may need to be shipped to winners based on timing of their availability.

Now, there are some cheaper and not so nice hotels around the store that you can reserve around the $30 price range. The Baymont Inn, which is a mile to the west of our store, is offering rooms at $42.99. They are capable of holding up to 4 people per room, maybe more if you ask for a cot or 2, and they offer a free breakfast as well. Here's their website.

http://www.baymontkissimmee.com/index.php

Just call their direct number, 407-994-1900, and say your with the Coliseum of Comics and they'll offer you the reduced rate of $42.99. I should warn that there is hotel tax, that all hotels in the area charge, of 13%. So there will be an extra $6 charge. You are always more then welcome to try and talk them down on the price.

I need volunteers to help judge and manage the event. I'll make sure they receive some compensation for their time i.e. sealed boxes, lunch, etc. I will be handling the entire tournament and side events through the weekend. Please feel free to email me juan at coliseumofcomics.com if you are willing to help out. I have up to 6 spots that I can fill for judges/volunteers, so the more the merrier. Obviously priority will go to individuals who have past experience, and I ask that you at least be 18 years of age to help out.

If you need to talk to me directly just email me or you can call me at 407-240-7882 on Friday or Saturday, since I'm always at the store on those days.

I'll keep close watch on this post should anyone have any questions. Should any updates occur I'll be sure to modify the first post to show them. That way people don't have to go digging through the entire thread trying to find them.

Thanks and we look forward to seeing you guys in July.

Best,

Juan Murcia

Yes, this is a 2 day event.

The side events will be held to small person pods (8 to 16), with them being mostly single elimination constructed tournaments or draft tournaments. That will depend on what people would like to play.

I'm going to leave side events open to any willing participants, so I'm not setting any of them in stone. They'll mostly be for early drop outs and for people that will be their on Sunday. I'm also leaving them open because I don't know the total number of volunteers that I'll have available to me to help run the side events.

Prize support for them will also be miscellaneous unused play mats and deck boxes that I have left over from past prize kits, along with whatever number of packs that will be in the pool.

Funny enough, I just thought about doing this when I woke up this morning. I'd do a standard tournament, and have it open to anyone on the Sunday of the event though. This is all just me putting my thoughts to paper. Once I know for sure my staff for the weekend, I'll modify my main post to show it.

Thanks for the input though, and if anyone else has any they are more then welcome to provide it.

If you going to do sealed make sure its the most recent set which would either be the core set or set 17. Also make it draft sealed is always bad you will get more players i think this way. Box tournament i agree with Dan Captain would be fun. Dan are you thinking of going to this richard just got back into the game .
