Chapter 1: Epic Fail To Kick Off The Weekend

So I wake up at around 5:30 AM Thursday morning so i can catch my flight from OAK to LA. Luckily I live about 2-3 minutes so I have plenty of time. I get to the airport and meet up with Matt Low (The infamous former teacher/NVS player) at around 6:10 AM. I get in line for security and I put all my crap in bins. I pass through the metal detector and no bells go off. Im waiting for the my bags to come out when I hear a security personnel say that they need a bag check. Im like "WTF?". So the personnel dood pulls me aside and tells me that he is gonna search my bag and i cant touch the bag while he is doing so. "Ok ", i said. He goes through the side bag and pulls out a folding blades and a butterfly knife and I facepalm so hard. Some more other security begins talking to me and he keeps asking why I have these with me. I start rambling about how I thought I left them in my drawer and I keep swearing to God that I didnt know they were there. They go through all my deckboxes because they honestly have no idea what the hell they are. They give me this super cool lecture and they tell me how lucky I am that they arent gonna arrest me or charge me with a federal crime. They take down my info and they tell me I can go. I grab all my crap as quickly as possible and go on. The last thing they tell me is that if they wanted to they can fine me $5000 to $20000. I finally get on my flight with Matt who is shocked about what happened. The entire flight Im freaking out about them calling home. FML.

Chapter 2: The Hokage's Deck

So we land in LA around 8 am and we go to bag claim to get Matt's bag. We then wait to meet up with Hokage-sama (JDragon/Josh) and Cao Cao who were flying in from San Jose. It took about ten minutes. We summoned a cab and went to straight to the hotel so we can drop our crap off and go staright to AX. On the way there we were talking about the crossover that was that day. I decided to play in it but I mentioned that I need a deck. Josh handed me a deck and says to use his DB deck for the WMAT the next day. Before we lwe left the cab, the driver handed some krshna pamphlets to all of us. Matt being a christian handed it to one of us and said "I want nothing to do with that."

We get there and meet up with Tylar (H_N), James Takenaka, Brian (?), dood, and some other dood. We also meet up with Laurent and his friend Jerry(not the sannin winner) and matas the trap. They finally open the doors to the bandai room at noon when it was supposed to open at 11. We fill out crap paperwork and start writing out our decklists and at the same time Im looking through the deck to see how it works. Its a tempo. Easy enough.

Round 1 Me(Tempo) vs. Dood 1 (Byakugan)
Game 1: I realize that the guy doesnt know how to play dragonball and the guy seems like he doesnt know what he is doing with the deck. I win .
Game 2: he atleast know how to curve out and I cant draw into anything
Game 3: see game 1

1-0

Round 2: Me vs. Aaron ? (Villains)
Game 1: he curves out and i draw nothing
Game 2; long game but he eventually gets it

1-1

Im not even sure if it was four and five rounds (its all a haze)

Last round: Me vs. Mike Cano (byakugan)

game 1: I misplayed hard and he got it.
game 2: he got hiashi hyuga platoon out and showed me some airpalms. I scoop.

if it was 4 rounds I finished 2-2 if 5 rounds I finished 2-3. I ended up getting half a box of BD set 4. Matt Low top 8d and got half a box also . I lol'd he became sad.

Id post a deck list but its Josh's deck... Out of all of us, Josh won the the event with Laurent and Cao Cao top 8ing. Im not sure if Matt did. I scrubbed out

Chapter 3: Butterfingers

We get back to our room and we are famished from the long day so we go to the mc donalds by our hotel and order some 1/3rd pound angus beef burgers and I get a mc chicken and a mc double to eat for later also. While we were eating a semi-looking homeless guy comes in and sits a t a booth of to the side. He starts asking us in spanish if we have an extra hamburger to guve him. I go yeah and pull out the mc. double. I grab it turn it so the wrapper would open upwards and toss it to the the guy no more than a foot away it lands in his hands but the burger decides to fall out of the wrapper anyways,. So now we are all looking at this burger on the ground and I feel like a jackass. I apologize to the guy and give him a dollar to get another. He says cool, takes the dollar, pockets it, and begins to eat the burger that was on the ground.

I get back to the room with everyone and I start unpacking a bit. While going through my stuff I found out that the biggest epic fail didnt belong to me but to airport security. They didnt see that I had a thrid knife in my carry on bag. I flew on an airplane with a knife and no one knew about it.

After loling at security of our nation's airport I got on matt low's laptop. I checked my email and bandai for the knew previews and all. I then got on OM and tried reading the knew naruto chapter. Matt saw what I was doing and kicked me off because he doesnt approve of scanlations. I told him that I would remember this. We playtested for the WMAT tomorrow and went to sleep.

Chapter 4: The Destined Fortune Cookie
Friday, July 3rd

So we got up and got ready and went to the convention. When we got there I saw a girl cosplaying as Blair (from soul eater) so I ran to get a picture.

I decide to use some alien unique deck. It was supposed to abuse Dabura but I didnt have all the cards to complete it so I filled the rest out with crap.

Round 1: Me vs. Biv Valentin ? (The deck I wanted to use except he had the cards)

he won...

Round 2: Me vs. Gersain (Alien villains i think)

Game 1: i mulled to 4 and didnt hit a drop after my 0-drop. he won
Game 2: It was close but he eventually got it.

0-2

I decided to drop because I wanted to go to the vendor hall. I got there and bought some stuff including some doujins (more on those later). I get back to the bandai room and i find that Thomas, matt, laurent, and Josh top 8d
(guess who the scrub in the room is now? jerry doesnt count he is a yugioh player). Its w/e. I start talking to matas and we I realize that there are some battle spirits demos and and free stuff over thar. I go and grab a calendar so I can show off the spread for the month of july. I admire the art work ; ) for a while and then I realize something and start loling.

Laurent ended up winning the WMAT. So we all go and get some thai food. It was thriteen of us so we took up four booths. I start arguing with Matt Low about scanlations. He talkes the adamant "Its bad for business" while I take the "If its bad for business the company would have done something already to make OM take it down - argument". We finish our meal and we get the bhill with some fortune cookies. I get an epic fortune. it reads something like this, "A great Teacher will present his vision to you. He will be adamant about his position/stance." I get some chills looking back on my argument with Matt. I give it to matt and he starts laughing.

We get back to the room and start preparing for the Kage tomorrow. I planned to use my Ghost Panic. I started making some final preparations and pulled some cards for a side deck. We go to sleep but before that Cao Cao and I take some pictures of Jerry sleeping. Theyre epic. (Will post later on)

Chapter 5: Super cool tourney bro Saturday July 4th Day of the kage. A total of 88 people show up to participate. I made a super cool sideboard IMO but w/e. we get settled down and we start going over the ground rules and stuff with Mr Wheat. A total of 7 rounds will make up the tourney.

Round 1: Me (Mono water GP) vs. dood (Kunoichi deck)

game 1 - I curve out and he has a hard time recovering from an early current. I eventually get the game.
game 2 - I curve out and wreck his board with a GP's second, Sasuke CH and some water dragons. I get the win.

1-0 so far so good

round 2: me vs. Ray Win (menta oppression)

game 1: we both curve out. He keeps oppresiing me with a flex which I cant get rid of because i cant draw into a current or Gaara. At one point I have a second hokage in discard, 1 in hand 2 water dragons, a ghost panic and 3 kanks. I would ghost panic but he has a DAP on the field. I drop a kank but he plays Stay out of This and I cant even search for a puppet. I say w/e and play Ghost Panic paying with the second. He doesnt DAP! I play the second draw nothing cuz my hand is full. I charge two kanks. I make two teams and attack I double water dragon and wreck his field. I win the game. I just lost the game.

game 2- I curve out he doesnt i win. 2-0 alright

Round 3: me vs. Glen Boden (some wierd wind fire genjutsu)

game 1: I curve out and get the game. It took a while though and we go to time.
game 2: he gets the game and we end up with a draw. 2-0-1

round 4: me vs. ferdie ramos (mono fire with puppets?)

game 1: we both curve out but he eventually wins.

game 2: we both curve out. I make a team of kank, shino/kiba squad, and I think isaribi. I have a crow on the filed and a salamander in my hand. He attackse knowing that he can overwhelm my team cuz he has puppets out too. He has no chakra due to me playing threat of tailed beast. I immediately blocks. He believes he may have made a misplay. He drops his salamander onto kank. I do also. He passes priority to me and play Water prison jutsu (the newer one) He had kiba/akamaru squad as head. I OV the team. I eventually win that game. We go to time while we are side decking.

game 3 - So now we have up till both our turn markers get to turn 4. so 4 turns each. I go first. I decide to make a gamble a cycle through my deck very fast with shino/kiba trying to wreck him on 3 with a panic and the second and some water dragons. that would have worked if i just had a water in my hand to play panic. We were tied at 1 BR after our 4 turns so it goes to deck count. Since i cycled he gets the game. 2-1-1

round 5: me vs. juan romero (tenten's time machine)

game 1- this game takes forever. to the point were i almost deck him out but he rips a box lunch and gets emina from the discard. Game 1 took 49 minutes he eventually scoops cuz I have him at 9 BRs. We go to time while side decking.

Game 2 - we are the only ones playing at this point everyone else is out side and Mr. Wheat sists down to watch us play out our 4 turns. Since we both have the same record we decide that if he wins this match and makes it a draw we would just high roll for who gets the win. He goes first. I mull to 4 and i keep a hand with a current, a COP, a second hokage and an aoi. He goes first and plays a cop and passes. I draw into crow. I play my COP and charge the second and the aoi. I pass. He plays sakura (textbook ninjutsu) and attacks with two teams. I block the sakura curent the COP and mill once for naruto. My turn I draw into isaribi? I play the isaribi and attack with 2 teams. He gives me 2. He plays a flex and attacks with flex and mental and the sakura. I block the flex with COP. I have an injured cop. My turn I draw into a ghost panic. I play crow and pass. He plays an anko BTA and attacks with anko and flex. I block with isaribi and get a suien with the effect. Isaribi is injured. I block the anko with cop and mill once to get the victory. My turn 3 I rip a kank. I play kank get sally. I play ghost panic paying with suien making sally the only card in my hand. I draw 3 cards from the second;s effect. I get 1 water ninja, something and a vortex. I charge the water nin making it 3 water chakras. I attack with 3 teams i vortex and get game. 3-1-1

Round 6: Me vs. Mike Cano (Tenten Time control)

game 1: Its a long game we both get a to a point where we are top decking but I have a shino/kiba on the field so i get my cards faster and I win.

game 2: we both side deck and we prepare and all. I get my opening hand and I keep. He starts mulling. I then noticed that I failed really hard. I noticed that I didnt shuffle shino and kiba back into my deck. He calls the judge over. The judge gives mike the decision if he wants to give me a game loss or not. He does of course so we go to game 3 and we side deck. for our 3 turn thingy again. I do something similar as with juan last round except i get water dragons instead of a vortex.

I win 4-1-1 At this point if i win the round 7 i have a chance at top 8.

Round 7: me vs. alex short of team akatsuki (mono wind puppets)

game 1: he wins from me making like 3 misplays. It goes to time though so we begin side decking for game 2. Same situation as with juan in round 5 except i have to win and then we high roll to see who gets the win. Same thing as the last two rounds where i need to top deck some stuff. All i need to do is top deck a current and I win. I top deck a water dragon and i LOST THE GAME. so after 7 rounds my record is 4-2-1.

Not bad for my first kage i guess.

That night laurent and jerry went to crash at someone else's hotel so it was just josh, matt, cao cao and I. Cao Cao fell asleep and josh was preparing for his top 8 tomorrow. Josh and I then discovered that Matt is such a dirty boy.

Pros:
Doing decent at the kage
Getting half a box for the crossover and not top 8in g while matt did and he got half a box also lol
Many pictures of hatsune miku and a really cute pikachu
Buying some doujins
Completing a haruhi set of figurines
Completing a lucky star set of figurines

Cons:
almost getting arrested and charged with a federal crime by TSA.
scrubbing out of the WMAT not being able to enjoy the rest of the convention cuz everything was so far away from the bandai room.
