Excitement For Organized Play

I'm so excited for the launch, previously, anytime i've started a cardgame it was half through, either that or the game never had enough fan base and was NO ORGANIZED PLAY (shaman king, sailor moon, card captors) but now that i've finished highschool, have a job and live on my own, i can finally take card gaming seriously! I pre-ordered to boxes and the starter decks so i'm hoping to make a sweet entry, i'm going to the tournaments starting on the 30th or the 6th of may, does anyone in ny plan to play? Maybe i can see someone at the tournaments, i'm quite excited!

ah, Card Captors, how that brings back memories....

but yes, it looks like any company that really wants their game to take off from the start realizes that OP is the only way to go. players are very competitive these days, and not giving them an outlet for that is a recipe for disaster.

also, if you don't have an OP program, the retailers cannot get behind it, or have to do it on their own. then, there's no consistency and the players go to where the prizes are, and then drift away.

although i don't think Naruto will have $$$ prizes (something the YGO players are clamoring for), it will be pretty darn cool with the monthly Store tournaments offering what would be like invites to the higher placed events.

one of these days i'll begin understanding the names of the levels of the events. right now i'll just use: store casual, store monthly, Regionals, and Nationals. i actually think there's five levels, but i can't remember the last one or where it goes in the food chain.

Question... has Bandai CCGs ever had cash prizes? I mean my goal is to become the best so I can just sell my won booster boxes and prizes, but cash would be nice as well =]

avenueu1987: you played the sailor moon game? my girlfriend collects it, were only missing a few cards, activate your pm option if you have any that may be able to trade.

topic: I will admit, this is one of the better OP bandai games if they do all the things they say, the Navia Drapt one isnt that bad, only main problem is that for people like me who want one of everything, it makes it hard to collect. lol.

I'm curious as to if any stores will hold pre-release tournaments. Five bucks=get a starter, have a chance to win more cards.

I'm quite excited to play. I haven't played in a card tournament environment for a while, and it'll be fun getting back into it.

$5 for the launch event? not sure about that. some of the rumors i hear is that it will be $15. you get one starter and the promo card (while supplies last), then you play for the t-shirt, and possible prizes/packs based on attendance and the store.

There is no set price for a launch event. It's actually free if the store location is willing to do it, but any launch promotions or pricing is done by the retail location itself, not bandai.
