THE WORD SPREADS

Beams of sunlight came through the window, causing me to wake up. I stretched and slowly got out of bed.

"Where did you go last night, Naruto-kun?" Hinata asked.

I didn't realize she was awake, or that she knew I had left last night.

"Granny Tsunade wanted to me."

"What for?"

"The Land of Fire and Wind... are merging."

Hinata was now wide awake and said, "Really? Can we trust them?"

"Granny Tsunade said they MAY attack, but we won't know for sure..."

"When will we merge?"

"Granny Tsunade said the sooner the better, so I'm guessing maybe a week or so..." I walked over to the window and looked at the village. "I'm going out for a bit."

I put on my orange clothes and forehead protector and left out the door after a quick kiss with Hinata. I walked through the crowds of people on the street. They all seemed to be talking among one another about something, but I couldn't tell what. That was until I over heard two men talking.

"Fire and Wind?! Merge!? This is bull ****!!!" The first man shouted.

"It may not be such a bad thing..." The other man said.

Then, a horrible smell came to my nose. I turned around to see what it was, and came face to face with an intoxicated homeless man carrying a bottle of sake. The man was covered in so much dirt and filth, you could swear he was black.

"The Sand are going to screw us over...." The man slurred. "They'll screw all of us over, just you watch... And what are you looking at, ugly!? I'm not g-"

He fell to the ground, having passed out. I continued walking down he streets, with thoughts going through my mind.

So the word is already out, huh? I wonder how many or happy with the desicion...

Then I saw a familiar hair style.

"Hey, Bushy Brows!" I called out.

I ran up to Rock Lee, and he turned to face me. He looked just like Guy now.

"Oh! Hello, Naruto. Have you heard the big news?"

"Of course I have! What's your opinion on it?"

"Hm... I'm not quite sure yet... We don't know if the Sand still has hard feelings against the Leaf."

"Do you know what other people think?"

"For the most part, it seems tied between those who favor it and those who don't."

"Really...? I'll see you around, Bushy Brow!"

"I wish you would stop calling me that..."

I was already leaving, heading back for home.

If things are tied between support and opposition... I thought. This COULD lead to Civil War...! No! There's no way a Leaf ninja would treason!

good chapter, very suspencful. U cant take sides that the wind will attack leaf or the other way around. The story could go either way. 9/10, plz get to the action
