Umm.. Chidori and Raikiri are the same tech

The Tech Raikiri is also called Chidori because of the noise the chakra makes.

L5R is half and half. But if they can do it, then why not here. L5R personalities go by family name first, first name last. I not sure how "japanese" the names really are but its been going on for years and its fine.

Another thing is I played the CG game and ugh..sorry I can't stand the English translations.

I personally like the English names over the Japanese names. What the heck is Kage no Bushin or whatever? I'd rather say "I'll play Multi-Shadow Clone Jutsu" instead of "I'll play [insert large string of words here]."

Of course, I don't read the Manga or anything, so I'm not totally into the series or anything, just the TV show. I'm sure most of the people who play the Card Game mostly watch the TV show, so they wouldn't understand what half (if not more) of the Jutsus are if they were the Japanese names.

Whatever the heck "Resengan" is will probably stay the same because it looks a like like Sharingan and Byakugan(sp?).

I think that if you watch the japanese verisions with english subtitles, you get used to it really quickly

I'm not sure where you are watching Naruto, my guess Cartoon Network? If thats all you see, then I understand because that is the only thing that you have been exposed with.

but chidori, rasengan, etc. just sound so much cooler. I think for some it is necessary to translate, but they should also keep some too.

I also rather have Haruno Sakura or Uchiha Sasuke than Sakura Haruno or Sasuke Uchiha

just my 2 cents

I kind of agree with keeping the Japanese style of the names....just because of the things they translate into......

Some of them translate a bit better when they are family name first....such as Sakura....

Haruno Sakura : Haru No Sakura - Haru = Spring , No = {a possessive} , Sakura = Cherry Blossoms IE Spring Cherry Blossoms....

Because of the positioning of the possessive NO, her name makes little sense turned round the other way....

Oh wait - this has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with the game.....

My bad

"Lightning Blade" definitely sounds much cooler than "chidori" or whatever; at least you know what the heck the attack means. I'm not even sure I'd totally understand the show if everything wasn't English-ized. If Naruto used Shadow Clone Jutsu and it was the Japanese name, I wouldn't know what he was performing until he actually multiplied.

What I am disappointed with is the lack of blood. I just saw last night's episode and was severely disappointed when, well, some random Ninja died and the blood was BLACK. Lame.

Uchiha Sasuke just doesn't seem right. If my name was "Bob Smith" I don't want people calling me "Smith Bob". It's just the American thing.

Most people watch the show on Cartoon Network because that's all we have (unless you count reading spoilers online).

I have no problem with the name translations. Least they kept "jutsu" over "technique". I find it quite understandable they translate the names since I doupt most americans that only watch the dub would like reading japense words and just stuttering. I understand that those that LOVE the anime want to keep the original names, but somethings have to change. I'm a big Naruto fan, but I have no beef with the translations.

For one thing, they had to get translated for lip syncing inthe dub. If it wasn't their mouths would be moving more then normal...like a bad Godzilla movie.
Second, the japanese names are techincally the same as the dub, just that it's in another language. The Japanses here Kage Bunshin no Jutsu as shadow clone Jutsu techincally. *shrugs*It just sounds cooler to use non-japaneses.

From what I heard with CotN1, Chidori and Resengan are staying the same because I heard both were mentioned in the manuel, least Chidori. I don't own the game (rather get CotN 2) so I cannot confirm this.
Probs be fully confirmed very soon. I'm betting it stays the same, unless it doesn't fit the lip sync.

BTW, be happy they didn't keept he translations fromthe first translated naruto manga attacks. yeah, I'd take the dub anime names over early manga translations anyday.

PS...I can't wait to hear the translations of Kimi and Kidou's attacks.

SHould've kept Lightning Blade Chidori Should've kept Shadow clone jutsu either Kage Bushin no jutsu or Shadow replication and shadow possesion jutsu to Kage Mane no jutsu or at least shadow bind, and especially Exspansion jutsu to Baka no jutsu or Partial Double size jutsu or something like that! But then again im not here to judge dubbers.

On the various translations, here's my stance.

I don't see why they had to reorder the family and given names, really, no reason.

The attack names... I'm undecided, some of them I personally like in the Japanese version (Raikiri, Chidori, Rasangan, Kagemane No Jutsu, Kage Bushin no Jutsu, Henge no Jutsu) but on some of the more basic names I can understand making them english (Clone, Transform, anything that gets described without the 'no jutsu' on the end of it).

Translation is a slippery area, some things really can't be translated like Dattebayo. Even understanding that there is no meaning to Dattebayo, Believe it sucks.

But what if they keep the Jyuken that Neji and Hinata uses, wouldn't that be hard to pronounce? For me and some other people. ( Forgot what jutsu or Jyuken's name was because it is too long)
