It's straight from what Viz hands us, and as
of the print, only the censored version exists in English, so we use that.

This makes no sense the cards were already made by Carddass they were licenced by Bandai....

The flavor text is more bothersome than the images (the images haven't reached a point of editing to where it's debasing of the original material yet).

I don't get the placement of the flavor text ON the image...
and it IS debasing and totally disregarding the original material!

Is it only Naruto fans that are this whiny?

No, it's pretty much every fanperson on the face of the Earth. I can understand getting ticked over system changes for games (a la Digi-Battle and such) but this is just images! It has no pitch on the gameplay unless you somehow integrated Unhinged into this game.

But they have to recapture the images for use in the card design. It's different from a standard window, after all.

I don't mind FT on image, because it's not really bothersome. What I do mind is that the flavor text is bogus and uninspiring. Take a cue from UDE (VS) and Wizards (Magic, Duel Masters). They write some good, and sometimes hilarious flavor text.

The only FT I like is Water Dragon Jutsu's text. Man, that was an awesome idea.

and i also love the idea of the signs for water dragon jutsu that was cool. all they are really doing with the flavor text is just quoting them from the show. in this game if you want a funny FT read Choji's FT, i guess that's probably the funniest one.

Incorrect, Bandai gets all images and card info direct from Carddass in Japan. Hero Factory takes the provided source data to create the US CCG for all their games. VIZ has nothing to do with these cards.

If only gameplay matters in TCGs then why do they have art in the first place? Why not just print the text on monocolor pieces of paper?

Interesting. Then why did Hero Factory think it was necessary to edit the cards, if they got their source data from Carddass in Japan, and Viz has nothing to do with these cards?
